Final Week of GTNP Grooming

The last day of grooming in GTNP will be next Friday, March 11. Make your plans to get out and enjoy the superbly groomed trail in the park this week! And keep your fingers crossed for a good crust cruising season starting later this month hopefully.

Congratulations Broncs Nordic Team!

The Jackson Hole Broncs Nordic teams have put together a run over the past decade that could be difficult to replicate.

They added to their storied history this past weekend with yet another state title, edging out Lander Valley at White Pine Ski Area trails near Pinedale and continuing their streak of consecutive titles. For the girls, it’s the 11th straight title, while the boys won their 12th in the past 13 years.

The cards aligned once again for head coach Katie Paddock, who will graduate 10 seniors this year from one of the top classes in program history.

Competing during a frigid morning in Pinedale, Broncs Kate Brigham and Mason Wheeler — two of the 10 seniors set to graduate — earned victory in Friday’s 5K freestyle before turning it into a sweep with first-place finishes in Saturday’s 10K classic competition as well.

Last Update: 3/4

Back at 100%!

The service technician shows up this morning and rides along through the entire grooming, and wouldn’t you know it, not an error code in sight.  The Husky was back to its 100% efficiency today and was happily making lots of kilometers of great Nordic skiing.  The technician had actually shown up last night and gone over quite a few possibly problematic areas and most likely had corrected whatever was causing the problem so hopefully now we’ll have smooth running to the end of the season.

Speaking of the end of the season, we are hoping to run until the end of the month and the forecast is looking much better for the next week to do so, with cooler temps and quite a bit of snow in the forecast.  However, Gutflop and Faceplant (image below) are pretty much off the grooming docket unless we get some significant snowfall as these sun-facing slopes are showing some rocks.  The rest of the trails are still holding a pretty good amount of snow and will hopefully ski well for the rest of the month.

Today’s “technician assisted grooming” covered almost every trail.  Classic tracks were placed on nearly every section as well with double passes on the field trails and Moose Loop.  The early morning grooming was having a bit of trouble completely erasing the tracks from yesterday, although during the last half of the session, nothing was coming out of the back of the Husky except for some great corduroy.  Skiing is really nice right now and will soften a bit as the day progresses although if the clouds thicken as forecast conditions could stay in that really nice spring skiing state for the rest of the day.

Groomer’s choice for today is Beaver Ponds.

Teton Pines Nordic

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 3/3

Our trails are still in pretty good shape despite the last 3 super warm days and nights. We are currently grooming with our ginzu groomer to preserve our track until fresh snow arrives this weekend. The best time for skiing over the next couple of days is from 9:45am-11:30am. The classic track is more negatively affected by our current weather situation, so skate skiing is recommended! If the weather forecast holds up for next week, our ski conditions should be back to normal late this weekend. Stay tuned.

New Salomon skis in stock now!!  We received a surprise shipment of classic skis in a couple of lengths. If you are between 110-195lbs we have skis for you. We have boots and poles to go with them too! These skis were supposed to arrive last September but have been stuck in the Covid shipping delay situation. We are happy they finally made it to the shop!

Our trails and shop are fully open to the public 9am-4pm daily. Please call us in advance to book lessons at: (307) 733-1733. You do not need a reservation for skiing and we do not take reservations for rentals. Please contact us in advance to check availability for off-site rentals.

In our retail shop we still have a small size selection of skate skis and BC skis, but have lots of boots, poles, jackets, pants, gloves, and hats. We also have a good selection of used skate gear available. Call or come by to see if we have your sizes! We have a full tuning shop so drop off your skis for a wax done by our great wax techs! Shooting Star

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 3/4

It continues to be a winter full of extremes! Record warmth this past week has rapidly diminished our profile and thin to bare spots are very close to forming throughout the trail system. Springtime conditions will yet again exist through Saturday with the trails skiing icier/fast in the morning and slushy/soft in the afternoons. Good news is that more snow and colder temperatures are forecasted to begin this Sunday lasting for most of next week… which should assist us in keeping the trails open for at least a few more weeks. Due to the current drastic swings in the weather (record highs & upcoming new snowfall) , we are still evaluating as to when we’ll begin applying black sand on the greens. As of today, I am still monitoring this coming Monday or Tuesday, but it depends on what kind of snowfall we receive, and I will update everyone once we commit to a game plan. Overall, the spring skiing has been great! Reminder that conditions will be fast and icy in the morning! Enjoy! Next update will be Sunday (3/6).

Southern Valley Nordic

Skate: Set | Classic: Not Set

Tried to get some grooming done last night but warm temps weren’t cooperative. The grooming was turning out worse than the existing trail conditions so I stopped grooming. With a little snow and some colder temps we’ll get the trails back in shape.

No dogs December 1 – April 15.

Teton Reserve Nordic

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Thursday & Saturday

Friday evening I went out for a scout to groom the reserve. The snowpack has gone isothermal and is either a sloppy mess or frozen block of ice in the early morning. We’re going to need to hold off on grooming until we receive some new snow and let these temperatures drop. We’ll give it another go in day or two. Standby.

No dogs allowed.

  • Get Outside: Early Season Skiing and More in Jackson Hole
While many of us dream of clipping into our skis for early-season skiing in Jackson Hole, this November, you can still see the roots and rocks beneath your feet. A forecast predicts another 3 inches of snow this weekend in Jackson, with a few more inches expected into Thanksgiving week, and we’re all ready for it. Until then, we patiently wait for the snow to fall, fill in nicely, and for temperatures to drop, creating… Read More
