Today’s The Last Day to Enjoy the International Spring Series at Trail Creek

Young athletes from around the world have come to Trail Creek to race this weekend and today is the last day to observe with a 10k individual start. Thanks to Lori I. for sending the photos below.

From L to R: Lucas Wilmot crosses the finish line during the Freestyle Sprint race on Saturday; Aria Grande from Canmore, Alberta catches her breath after the Freestyle Sprint; Aria and her grandmother known as “Granny Gnar” who we understand to be quite the talented skier herself.

Trip Report: Game Creek

The last trail grooming for Game Creek was on Friday and it made for a nice spring ski base! Easter Sunday, a couple of friends skied the full length of the Game Creek groomed trail, with 1-2 inches of fresh snow on top of the groomed surface. Very nice gliding, and fun to ski in a light snow storm and have the valley to oneself.

Consider waxing your skis as temps get warm. With warm, sunny days forecast this week, get out early while temps are below freezing to maximize your glide. Be alert if skiing under steep snow covered slopes, as spring avalanches may occur as temps rise.

We encourage winter trail users to support all of our grooming teams across Jackson Hole and Teton Valley. When possible please consider a donation to the trails you frequent. Please leave a comment such as “grooming” or “Nordic” in the designation or campaign section.

Racing Day 2!
Today at Trail Creek is the second day of the International Spring Series races.  On the docket is a mixed gender, mixed technique relay race which should be really fun to watch.  Racing begins at 10:30.  The event website has a link to a google doc that has all the details of the three day race.  A more detailed version of the map above can be viewed here.

In addition to the course, the Husky was able to make a pass through all trails last night.  As of 5 AM about a half inch of snow had fallen.
