Trailblazers are Enthusiastic Supporters
Over a decade ago, our founder Nancy Leon wanted to increase the visibility of Nordic skiing opportunities to help our community and visitors explore more winter here in the Tetons. She gathered a core group of passionate individuals who have given time, expertise and financial support to the Nordic Alliance.
Trailblazers recognize some of our long time supporters and significant contributors and shares a glimpse of their connection to Nordic skiing.

The Bitzer Family
Tom and Emma, as well as parents Anja and Marc…and of course their dog Oskar Bitzer, pictured with our dog ambassadors below.
Marc has been a lifelong cross-country skier and racer, and has “infected” the rest of the family with the “XC bug”.

Mary and Jim Speyer
Mary and Jim are long-time Jackson Hole residents, active Nordic and alpine skiers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts. They are devoted to family, friends, local and national philanthropic organizations and serve on various non-profit boards in the JH area.
Nancy Leon and Charlie Thomson
Nancy is the JH Nordic Alliance founder and first board chair.

Trish and Michael Spain
Michael and Trish are active outdoor enthusiasts, both Nordic and downhill, along with a bit of fat biking.
They love this beautiful valley and they are passionate that there is no better way to enjoy it then taking advantage of the fabulous Nordic skiing!
Chris and Gretchen Sebald
Chris and Gretchen are Jackson residents transplanted from Minnesota and Wisconsin. They are outdoor enthusiasts who love sharing the beauty and adventure Jackson and the Teton Valley have to offer.
Chris currently serves as the treasurer on the JH Nordic Alliance board and both are enthusiastic annual free ski, fat bike and snowshoe event volunteers.
Dog Ambassadors
Potentially there are more dogs on winter trails than people! And they bring their owners and many trail users great joy.
In the same spirit as inspiring people to be stalwart stewards of these amazing trails, some of our enthusiast dog-owners are excited to have their dogs lead the pack on raising awareness of great dog etiquette on winter trails.
- Leash at trailheads, congested areas and on trails that require leashes.
- Pick up poop. Every time. And dispose of properly.
- Be mindful of wildlife, other dogs and other trail users.
