New on the Blog: TMR – Adventure and Fine Dining Anytime
The Annual JHNordic Alliance Free Ski, Fat Bike, and Snowshoe Day brought the JHNordic community together and introduced people to Turpin Meadow Ranch (TMR) and human-powered winter activities on YOUR Bridger Teton National Forest public lands.
What blew the minds of our gracious hosts was how many people are under the impression that TMR is only open to the public during the free annual event. We are here to dispel that rumor and encourage you to show some love to one of our Alliance members by visiting on a regular day. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or you’re looking for a cozy getaway for the day, Turpin Meadow Ranch promises an unforgettable winter wonderland experience any day of their operating season (mid December to mid March).
Free Saturday Old Pass Road, Teton Pass, Coal Creek Shuttle schedule & reservation system now available!
With several BC Nordic trails starting from the base of Old Pass road, Teton Pass, and Coal Creek trailheads, this is a fantastic service provided by Teton Backcountry Alliance. This enables all backcountry skiers (AT and Nordic alike) to use public transport (or drive) to reach Stilson, then access popular backcountry trailheads.
Please donate to the Teton Backcountry Alliance to support this shared service.
Winter recreation begins on park roads in Grand Teton

Friends of BT- January Happenings
Last month we held a panel to engage with some of our partners; this month we’re co-hosting (with the BTNF) a symposium for the communities around the BTNF about why the upcoming BTNF Forest Plan update is important, and how community members can be a part of this process. Click here to watch the live stream or learn more here.
Nordic Ambassadors Snow might be slow coming this winter, but our Nordic Ambassador program is ready for action. We have 9 Nordic Ambassadors—several of whom are returning from last winter—on board for this winter season. These USFS volunteers will patrol some of the highest-use areas on the BTNF’s Jackson Ranger District, including the Cache, Trail, and Game Creek Trailheads. “Ambassadors are a friendly, helpful Forest presence and will be out communicating winter regulations and dog leash requirements,” says program manager Margo Feingold.
Teton Climbers Coalition honors Our Local Hero: Linda Merigliano!
Congratulations to Linda Merigliano, Recreation Program Manager, Bridger Teton National Forest, as well deserved recipient of Teton Climbers Coalition Local Hero Award. As a founding member and active leader of the Jackson Hole Nordic Alliance, she is a rock in our community for fostering responsible recreation, inclusive respectful use of our national forests, wilderness, wild lands, trails, sharing spaces with humans, dogs and wildlife respectfully.
We Need Your Feedback!
Did you attend the JHNA Free Ski, Fat Bike & Snowshoe Day this year? If so, we’d like you to take this short survey about your experience. Your feedback is valuable to us so we can make sure this event continues to be a fun activity that serves the needs of our community!

Last Update: 1/12
The blowing and drifting of snow with pretty significant accumulations is going throw a wrench into our grooming efforts. With our PistenBully down we may not be able to get the snowmobile and pull behind around after this storm since we can’t keep up. Stay tuned for updates.

Cache Creek Singletrack
Groomed by Friends of Pathways
Grooming As Needed
Last Update: 1/11
We groomed the Cache Creek road to Noker Mine and upper Hagen from bridge 5 to 2. The lower trails are still a little thin on snow, especially under the trees, but are still compact enough to use for now. We will keep snowshoeing around and packing things in until there is enough snow to take the roller through.
Please help support trail grooming for the Cache Creek Single track trails by donating to the Friends of Pathways. Visit: friendsofpathways.org/donate/ and leave the comment “Grooming” in the campaign section.

Grooming As Needed
Last Update: 1/12
Blizzard conditions will persist all day Friday with high winds, white outs , and heavy drifting. Unless you are part Sasquatch, I would highly advise against usage on the trails Friday . Grooming will be ongoing to take advantage of the snowfall, and reminder trails will likely drift in immediately after it’s been groomed. Saturday looks to be calmer and more ideal for skiing. Stay safe and take advantage of a down day by tuning up your Nordic skis for Saturday.
- Trail conditions are early season. Please ski with caution as the snow profile is extremely thin.
- Walking is not allowed.
- Sled Hill is Closed. We hope to allow full usage this weekend after we have time to prep it from Friday’s storm.
- Small game/scavenger animals may be present throughout the whole course. Use extra caution when skiing with dogs.

The pisten bully made a pass on all trails Friday morning. Classic track is set in the flats, the way back 40, and the connector trail between the Mule Loop and Lower Pasture. The single track groomers spent much of Friday shoveling on the mule loop single track to make it really nice. Bundle up and enjoy the ride and glide.
TMR is open to the public daily for skiing, meals, Nordic lessons, and tours! Call the office (307) 543-2000 or visit our website to book your adventure! Check out our live webcam for current conditions.
Please help support trail grooming in GTNP by donating to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. It’s easy and encouraged. All you need to do is visit: GTNPF.org/donate/ and leave the comment “Nordic” in the designation section. There is the opportunity to leave a one time gift or reoccurring monthly donations in any amount.
