Who Ya Gonna Call?
When you find yourself in a dangerous position in the backcountry, do you know who to call in an emergency on Nordic and Winter Trails? This newest article by Gregory Zeigler highlights how things can get very serious, very quickly regardless if you are in the back country or a valley subdivision. The article includes a step by step plan and other handy suggestions for preparation. This is a valuable read and worth sharing with others who love to recreate in winter.

Anticipation
With the Moose Chase over, and the Nordic State Championship still several weeks away, Trail Creek waits in anticipation of what is to come. The Husky did its work well, rolling over, around, and through obstacles and trails to bring fresh corduroy across the network and allowing its many skiers to enjoy their time and get their exercise and training. We got some great photos from the Moose Chase over the weekend; of particular note: current coach George Cartwright won the men’s 20K, and former coach and program skier Jessi Knori won the woman’s 20K. Congratulations to them both! Full results can be seen here: https://jhskiclub.org/moosechase
Today’s grooming was single or double passes across almost every trail in the network. Almost all ungroomed trails have been worked in at this stage, with only a few connectors left to catch on the next pass. Additionally, every stadium was groomed, including the lower stadium, Lollipopper Land, and Skyview. Trails were a bit chunky in some places, so the Nordic X was left as-is with hopes for new snow in the next few days. Reports from the trails have been very nice, and that classic kick is excellent with just a little Blue Extra.
Groomer’s choice is Woolsey Woods.

Saturday morning I did my Sunday groom due to a schedule conflict. I was able to reset the skate track and left the classic track alone as it was in great shape. It should be a nice day with great conditions. Beware of the Moose on Yeti’s loop. There’s a big boy hanging out. Enjoy the glide.
No dogs December 1 – April 15.

Went out for an early Friday evening groom. Buffed out the skate lane and reset the right side classic track. I could not improve the left side classic track so I left it as is. The track should firm up nicely overnight. Enjoy!
