Our sister was visiting from out of town – so where better to head than to Granite Canyon?  We snowshoed counter-clockwise in a grand loop that included the two snow bridges, lots of animal prints, and spectacular views.  -KD

Winter offers particularly spectacular chances to watch wolves in the wild, especially in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. From Feb 22-27, we’re offering our final Winter Wolves & Wildlife multiday trip of the season. If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the famous wolves of Yellowstone, we hope you’ll join us! Mount Teewinot rises more that 5,500 feet (~1700 m) above Jenny Lake. “Teewinot” is the name given to the entire Teton Range by the Shoshone tribe, who lived in and around these mountains as far back as 10,000 years ago. The name translates to “many pinnacles.” Although the name of the range was changed to the Tetons by French-Canadian fur trappers, one mountain kept the original Shoshone name. Today, Mount Teewinot is a popular climbing destination among our less risk-averse visitors.

A Tale of Two Huskies and Ballet!
After an act of Husky ballet, our own Husky has returned to Trail Creek today, complete with a brand new engine shipped from Italy, ready to resume the grooming duties at Trail Creek.  While getting the full sized semi-trailer turned around on the Old Pass Road did literally require a delicate ballet of the two Huskies pushing and pulling, thanks to the hard work of the people from Prinoth, our machine is once again dancing around the trails at Trail Creek.

Husky ballet wasn’t the only act in town in the last 24 hours, Coach Libby sent in a report that the Teewinots were incorporating ski ballet into their practice yesterday.  Ski ballet requires participants to strike any number of creative poses and to practice balance & coordination, resulting in lots of creativity going on with the Teewinots yesterday!

Today’s grooming was yet another ballet with the loaner Husky venturing into the woods, making at least a single pass on every trail.  Classic tracks were reset where needed and on narrower sections.  Moose Loop and Shades of Gray received double passes with fresh classic tracks.  Midway through grooming was when our original Husky returned which proceeded to finish the grooming on the fields after the tiller was once again reattached.  The section of East Field Woods leading to Son of Gutflop which has been blocked by the tiller is once again open.

Groomer’s choice for today is Moose Loop.
