Socking In!

March is coming in like a lion today at Trail Creek; as of report time, very heavy snowfall is occurring with visibility such that the Aspen Bump is barely visible from the cabin.  The forecast has us in a winter storm warning with heavy snow forecast through Saturday and lighter snow continuing beyond that, should be exciting!

One of the big regional Nordic events, the West Yellowstone Rendezvous is tomorrow in Montana.  While registration has closed for the event, it would be a fun spectator event if you could make it up there.

If your Nordic aspirations are closer to home, come on out to Trail Creek and enjoy the storm.  We’ve actually had some skaters out this morning; however, as the day goes on, it will become a pretty good workout.  Classic skiing in through the snow shrouded woods should be magical throughout the day.  Today’s Husky grooming did cover every trail with a single skate/classic pass.

Groomer’s choice for today is to be in awe of a powerful storm on a great Nordic ski around Trail Creek.

Rowdy winter conditions are expected this weekend as 1-2ft+ of snow is forecasted. Keep up with the hourly forecast if you plan to brave the elements venture out on the Nordic trails. We’ll continue to do our best with recutting the trails each morning but anticipate the track to quickly receive new accumulations and drifting after grooming is complete. Stay safe and enjoy the snow!

  • Walking is not allowed.
  • Sled Hill is Open.

It’s western out there! Plan storm skiing this weekend, we recommend your Nordic bc skis, a classic tour, or a snowshoe in the woods. Single track trails are being rolled regularly but there is so much snow that things are pretty soft out there. The pisten bully will be out packing trail but the snow is falling so heavily that it might not look like much has been done. Have fun in the snow and stay safe out there.

TMR is open to the public daily for skiing, meals, Nordic lessons, and tours! Call the office (307) 543-2000 or visit our website to book your adventure! Check out our live webcam for current conditions.

The Drift Run, Fat Bike, or Ski

March 8-10, 2024
Pinedale, Wyoming

For the last 100 years Wyoming cowboys have “drifted” their cattle each fall out of the mountains where they go to to the desert for the winter. In this epic event racers experience Wyoming– under Wyoming’s terms–Wyoming style. Choose a discipline–Ski, Bike, Run– then set out to complete the course before mother nature finds a way to finish it for you. It is still very much winter up here in March. The temperatures can be sub zero, the wind can be relentless, and snowfall can be measured in feet.
