Winter Service Levels Update 1/4/22

The Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce we are back on our normal grooming schedule after some mechanical issues with our groomer.  The daily schedule listed on the website below will be accurate.

Areas such as Cache, Game Creek, Emily’s Pond and Stilson area may be completed a little later in the morning than usual.  Other areas will be groomed with the snowmobile and pull behind for the short term.

We’d like to thank Valley Landscape Service for their assistance picking up some areas for us while we address the mechanical issues.  Please continue to check Twitter, P&R website and JH Nordic for up-to-date information.  http://www.tetonparksandrec.org/1353/Grooming-Report

Just a Nice Day to Ski!
It’s not too cold, not too warm, we’ve had a little snow, but it’s not amounting to much, there’s been a little sun, but it’s also been mostly cloudy.  Today is just kind of a typical Wednesday, but it is still a great day to ski at Trail Creek.

If you are lucky enough to make it out today, you’ll discover around 15 kilometers of lovely freshly groomed ski trails.  The Husky was hard at it this morning, working the routes.  On most of the woods sections a single pass with a fresh classic track left nice conditions for everyone.  The fields did receive more extensive grooming with fresh skate lanes and double classic tracks in anticipation of a busy practice schedule this afternoon.

Racing continues today at Nordic Nationals in Houghton, MI, you can check out all the action on the event website.  Many of our IMD and high school skiers will be off to Casper this weekend for the next Wyoming High School Nordic race.

Finally thanks to Coach Kathy for another great Lollipopper shot, apparently there are so many this year they are skiing on Tuesdays.

Grooming Today: Emily’s Pond Levee, High School Fields, Wilson Centennial Trail
Last Update: 1/4

The pistenbully is down. Grooming will be done with the snowmobile and drag today. I attempted to groom the levee but it is too firm from use that our snowmobile groomer was unable to do anything. The levee won’t be groomed until new snow or the PB is back up and running.

Stilson has been groomed with the snowmobile. Conditions are ok. The tracks will be soft for awhile and I will not be able to set new classic tracks until the pistenbully is repaired.

The school fields have been groomed with the snowmobile.

Skate: Set | Classic: Set

We got a few inches of snow since the last groom. I rolled it out and set the classic track. Skating will be soft but good. Sorry, the roller left clumps of snow in the track, but it is just fluff. Not quite enough new snow to set a deep classic track all the way around but most of it should be good. Enjoy!
