Slowly Walking Towards Perfection
Whenever a snowstorm hits Trail Creek, it’s always a new challenge to give the best trails possible, and sometimes conditions don’t cooperate. Fortunately, today was a good day! Many of the berms that were left over from yesterday’s storm were wiped away today, leaving smooth, clear skiing over the hills and through the woods. Today’s grooming was a single pass over almost every trail, with occasional double passes to reach more obscure trails, with a focus on cleaning up leftover roughage from yesterday.

On the whole, trails are in pretty good shape, and can look forward to a double pass tomorrow, and a full return to perfection!

Last Update: 1/28
I did 2 laps and things should set up with the temps dropping tonight.  A friendly reminder that snowmobiles are not allowed on the groomed singletrack.  If you see someone without the grooming roller using any trails other than the Cache Creek road, kindly remind them that it takes a lot of work to keep the trails leveled and packed.

Shooting Star

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 1/26
Beginning this evening a significant winter storm is forecasted to push through, bringing ample accumulations through early Sunday morning. Skiers should anticipate storm skiing if venturing out on the Nordic trails this Friday & Saturday, as drifting and heavy daytime snow accumulations will likely occur. Depending on severity of drifting, daily grooming efforts may also take longer than normal and likely finish around 10 am.  After this weather system passes, look for calm and colder temperatures to start out next week. Next update will be Monday 1/30. Stay safe and enjoy!

Please help support trail grooming in GTNP by donating to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. It’s easy and encouraged. All you need to do is visit: GTNPF.org/donate/ and leave the comment “Nordic” in the designation section. There is the opportunity to leave a one time gift or reoccurring monthly donations in any amount.

Rolled out the 8~10 inches of snow Friday evening. Might set up well but snowing at groom time and 10 pm. Groomed walking/single track and set classic track. If I have some time I may make a few more passes tomorrow if we get a bunch more snow. Powder to the people.

Southern Valley Nordic

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Friday & Sunday
Last Updated: 1/29
Skate: Set | Classic: Set
The rolling saga continued this morning. Compacted everything as well as I could but conditions are soft. I was able to set a classic track on yeti’s and the campground portion of campground loop. The campground woods kept trying to swallow the ginzu groomer and after my second wrestling match to get unstuck decided not to struggle with the classic track. The parking is in OK condition. Anything less snow worthy than a Subaru should beware. Have a great Sunday.

No dogs December 1 – April 15.

Teton Reserve Nordic

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday
Last Updated: 1/28
Skate: Set | Classic: Set
Teton Reserve got close to a foot of snow since the last groom, which required a total reset of the track. I did two passes with the roller and set the classic track. Classic should be pretty good. The skate track is really soft, so skate skiers may want to wait for another groom before skiing this track.

No dogs allowed. Please stay on the groomed trails at all times.
