This is the Last Week to Enjoy Winter at Turpin Meadow Ranch

This is the last week of the 23/24 winter season to enjoy the winter trails and revel at the restaurant at Turpin Meadow Ranch. With the days counting down the fine folks at the ranch want to encourage you to embark on one last adventure with them as they bid farewell to the winter season on March 17.

Many folks are planning to enjoy the literal last days of the season, and while weekends are a great time to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere at Turpin Meadow Ranch there is something magical about the tranquility of a weekday outing if you can make it work. Weekdays at Turpin provide a peaceful retreat where you can immerse yourself in the serenity of the ranch with fewer people around, allowing for a deeper connection with nature and more personalized attention from the staff.

There are cabins still available for the rest of the season, so while you’re formally invited to come and play for the day, know that staying overnight and enjoying a hearty breakfast at the lodge is an option too.

Every day offers a unique adventure at Turpin Meadow Ranch. Whether you choose a weekday escape for quietude or the weekend rendezvous for lively camaraderie, Turpin is the place to go for an unforgettable winter trail experience for the next few days.

TVTAP: Winter Trails Challenge Extended!

Registration is OPEN for the Winter Trails Challenge and you can start logging miles on Strava or manually on your fundraising page.

When we planned this fundraiser, we were doing bring-the-snow dances and now we’re getting massages because we’re using the snowblower so much. That means there’s lots of snow to play in, so we are extending the challenge!

Keep skiing, walking or riding either solo or on a team through March 31. The Winter Trails Challenge is a motivator for you to get outside and enjoy the extra daylight we are getting on Sunday. Spring forward with mileage on Winter Trails!

Thank you to our generous local business who have donated some KILLER prizes for winners. Check out tvtap.org to see what you can win when you walk, ski or ride.

Trip Reports: Cattleman’s Bridge, Signal Mtn to Bradley Taggart, Island Hopping on Jackson Lake

Beautiful ski to Cattlemen Bridge on Sunday. The only tracks I crossed were animal ones.

The Park will stop grooming the road from Signal Mountain to Bradley Taggert next Friday and the forecast was for sunshine all day – so we packed our sunscreen – and headed out for our 14.5 mile classic and skate ski day.  It turned out to be ideal conditions and was one of the most spectacular days we have spent in the Tetons.  Three skate skied and three classic skied.  Three had never done this adventure.  All had a memorable day.  As one said “I wish this day would never end!” -KD

A few days ago a friendly bunch of Sierra Club Jackson Hole alumni cross country skiers gathered on one of their favorite outings: Jackson Lake Island Hopping. Taking advantage of cold nights, sunny blue sky days, views of the entire Teton Range rising up on the west side of the lake, this is the perfect time to ski around the islands near Colter Bay, picnic, enjoy the wide open spaces. Thanks to local Sierra Club xc ski leaders who originally shared this favorite outing with Jackson Hole Nordic years ago!

On Sunday a group of friends and JHNordic enthusiasts followed the JHNordic.com trail description and GPS map, and tracked their location as they skied out onto the frozen, snow-covered lake. They passed a low level igloo, built no doubt by ice anglers (2 holes in the ice now frozen closed). The crew was rewarded with expansive views of the Tetons that take your breath away. They had the whole lake to themselves until the end of the return trip, when 2 snowshoers were spotted in the distance. FYI: This is the perfect week (on a clear day) to experience this special place!

Last Update: 3/11

Last Week of Practice!
Well almost; after a great season, Lollipoppers, Teewinots, Ositos, and Juniors will all be wrapping up their season this week.  You’re sure to still spot some of them around as skiing continues to the end of the month, putting their newly gained skills to work, having a great time at Trail Creek and the Prep/Comp skiers will keep at it as well until the end of the month, but the crazy busy practice days will wind down after this week.

weekly schedule (800x240).jpg

If you are able to make it out to witness this incredible training spectacle this afternoon you will discover that the Husky has been hard at it, making passes on pretty much every trail.  Morning conditions were a bit icy, but with the report time temp passing 40º, things have softened nicely and skiing is nice.  Classic tracks were reset on the narrow trails but existing ones were nice and not reset if able.

New today is Super Faceplant pictured above.  Located just up the hill from Faceplant, it is a super duper way to get down that ridge if you are so inclined.  The snow bridge is back as well as a bit of new grooming in the meadow by the cabin.

Groomer’s choice for today is to check out Super Faceplant.
