Trip Report: Shadow Mountain Nordic ski

Five of us headed up to Shadow Mountain for a beautiful day of skiing last weekend.  We broke trail on the upper quarter as no one had been there since the last big snow.  Four of the five of us used skins which was very helpful.  A great time was had by all.  -KD

Race Week-Great Week!
It looks to be a fantastic Nordic week at Trail Creek this week!  Heading things off, the Moose Chase is just five days away and the weather looks great between now and then.  The forecast calls for moderate pleasant temperatures with 17 inches of snow before race day.  The snow will be coming slowly throughout the week so it should do nothing but make for a fantastic race on Saturday.  All the information and registration is available at the Moose Chase website.

Good news from McCall, Idaho and IMD HQ; it looks like 12 of our JHSC racers are named to the 2024 national team, you can see all the results on the JNQ Point Sheet

2024 Moose Chase Map (800x566).jpg

Today’s grooming is shifting into Moose Chase mode, especially in the woods, focusing on the Moose Chase trails which mostly received a single Husky pass.  Classic tracks were mostly in pretty good shape, being reset only where necessary.  The fields received multiple passes on the Moose Chase course with some additional grooming including a substantial increase of the Nordic X course.  The snow has finally softened up nicely, resulting in some very nice conditions today.

Weekly Schedule 2-12-24 (800x243).jpg

The schedule this week should be a bit lighter with Prep/Comp having Monday and Tuesday off and Winter Sports being wrapped up for the winter according to the most recent report to the grooming department.  Saturday however, will be a huge day with the 2024 Moose Chase.

Groomer’s choice for today is the Moose Chase course.
