12.6.25 Daily Trail Report
Once again, Teton Canyon is reliably our early season go to.
A winter trails & grooming snapshot to inspire you to go outside today.
There is skiing!! Teton Canyon is groomed and TVTAP will be working this weekend. People reported good classic and a soft skate track. And Saturday is Global Fat Bike day. Nan Pugh and Aaron Couch will be hosting a fat bike fun zone from 9 – 2.
Teton Pines is opening Sunday…you may have seen groomed track but please do not ski at Teton Pines before Sunday. The team is working hard to create a solid base and so it is not open on Saturday.
With early conditions, and only a few tracks with grooming, we will send intermittent reports rather than daily. Once the season is more fully underway daily reports will begin. There is great adventure Nordic or light touring in the upper elevations!

General Weather – Snowy with a warming trend
Weekend looks snowy! And things may warm up beginning of the week so there is some extra incentive to get outside Saturday and Sunday.
What’s Groomed Today? Teton Canyon!
Grooming began Friday morning and the canyon will be groomed Saturday morning.
Above is a static screenshot of what you can see on jhnordic.com/grooming/ for every groomed trail, all season long, on both sides of the Tetons. You can find recent groomer notes, trail distance and profile, general difficulty rating, and applicable uses.
Teton Canyon is groomed by Teton Valley Trails & Pathways. If you plan to ski in Teton Valley more than a few times, go ahead and get your 2025/2026 trail stickers now! If you are just keen to ski in Teton Canyon this weekend because it is the only groomed track on Saturday, you can still visit their website to support grooming.
Groomers make the magic, the Nordic Alliance makes it visible.
Teton Pines opening Sunday
Groomers have begun the pack down and prep at Teton Pines Nordic. Please hold off on any investigations until Sunday! They are working hard to get the track in great shape this weekend, setting the base for the season (and the week of warming temps). Cody will update the grooming page once grooming is complete on Sunday.
On Sunday, go have a great ski!!
Thursday, December 11, is the first day of the JHSC Recreational Nordic Masters program: classic skiing at Teton Pines. You must register in advance for all four classic, all four skate, or all eight clinics.

Other Updates from the Groomers
Grnad Targhee Nordic Trails
Nordic skiing is still one to two weeks off. We are in the loop and will keep you posted as the snow develops. In the meantime check out the winter activities page. Grand Targhee has rentals and dogs are welcome on the track.
Shooting Star Nordic
Trails are closed. On Sunday, snow will likely shift to rain, as temperatures are forecasted to be 10-15*F above average, boasting daily highs in the 40’s with nightly lows in the 30’s. Next week’s warm up may severely diminish or melt off any snow accumulations. Next update will be Monday, 12/8.
Reminder that Shooting Star needs approximately 18” to begin grooming with the snowmobile and 24”+ for the snowcat. Once enough snow has fallen, we need several days to pack and prep the course prior to opening.

Saturday mid-day updates:
TVTAP groomers ran a lap around Alta Nordic mid-morning Saturday. The south loops are decent. The north loops are not quite skiable.
Trail Creek needs more snow.
Great Nordic Touring on Togwotee and Teton Pass
There is plenty of snow to be had in the mountains. And in the valleys across grassy or short vegetation.
Early season is a fun time to explore and see what the world looks like between fall and the depths of winter. Plus it’s a great opportunity to get out all your gear, check through it and get yourself set up for the season.
