Trip Report: Game Creek
Game Creek classic ski track was set in the old fashioned way. One skier after another. The snow was wet and soft. Very nice ski with few other skiers. Thanks for the report Kathy G.!

Trip Report: 5 XC ski outings in 3 days in Jackson Hole
Submitted by K.O.S
I did 5 XC ski outings in my 3-day trip, plus an afternoon alpine ski at JHMR.
Ski 1: Gray Meadow with a friend (small loop), bigger loop solo. “Free is a good price.”
Ski 2: Taggart Lake Trailhead north out and back, visit to Fabian cabins on return. Magical day of blue sky and clear views of Cathedral Peaks, with JH Ecotour Adventures. Our guide, Ryan, was excellent with multiple moose and local wildlife sightings. 10.0 rating.
Ski 3: Ladies skate ski at Teton Pines. Love the access from Teton Village via the START Bus, stop at Persephone West, then XC ski.
Ski 4: GTNP – Moose-Wilson road trail out and back from Granite Canyon trailhead. Crusty snow was dicey on skinny skis though easy access from Teton Village and peaceful setting. Creek crossings were beautiful.
Ski 5: Shooting Star Nordic Center. Excellent grooming and soft late afternoon conditions. Great views of the valley and back toward Jackson Hole Mountain. Beautiful houses in here too.
I really enjoyed exploring all the trails here. Would like to see more next time!

Digging Out!
As of report time, the snow has finally tapered off. In the most recent snow event, somewhere around 2 feet of snow has fallen across the beautiful trails of Trail Creek. Once again today, the Husky was making the rounds, turning that lovely powder into ski trails for classic and skate Nordic skiing.
The grooming began in the woods with most trails receiving a single skate/classic pass. You might notice that grooming was shifted a bit from the normal path; this was to pull in fresh snow from the far side of the trail. Moose loop and the fields received multiple passes with very aggressive grooming in hopes of quickly firming the snow. The report time temp of 35º should facilitate this transformation from soft heavy powder to firm ski trails.
If you haven’t had time to check out the February Nordic Newsletter, the excerpt below is Lena Poduska’s report from her experience skiing in Europe.
In mid-January my teammate, Lucas Wilmot, and I traveled to Falun, Sweden to race representing the United States on the 2024 U18 trip. The whole experience was amazing; being able to race on an iconic World Cup course, meeting new people, and learning so many things about skiing and myself are only the highlights of this trip.
One of the best parts of the whole experience in Sweden was being a part of a strong and supportive team. I learned so much from the other athletes and coaches. Being on a team with these people made the new concept of international travel and racing a lot less stressful. Together the team had so much fun exploring Sweden and racing hard. We worked well together and lifted each other up. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to meet and perform with these fast kids.
Thanks so much, Lena, and best wishes for all your races!
Groomer’s choice for today is the quite fast Close Field.
Cranky the Moose
The Grooming Department just received a notification from Coach George that Cranky the moose chased him and some Juniors down Homeward Bound yesterday. We are in the process of contacting Game and Fish seeking advice, but it would probably be prudent on your next ski in the woods to keep your eyes peeled and head the other way if you see a moose with antlers!

The grooming is great with all this snow!! Now is the perfect time to drop off your skis with is for a mid-season wax. This warm fresh snow is notorious for sticking to your skis but with a fresh hot wax you’ll be gliding fast and not sticking!
We groom approximately 16km of track for both skate and classic daily. We have a full retail and rental shop. We offer lessons daily. Call us with questions and to book lessons: (307) 732-4130. To keep our track in pristine shape for skiing we do not allow dogs, walking, snowshoeing, or fatbikes.

Winter returned to the valley this morning, with 4 inches of fresh snow on the track. The trails remain in good condition with more snow forecasted throughout the day and for the rest of the week. Please expect storm conditions throughout the day and week as the forecast predicts snow showers through the evening on Thursday.
- Trail conditions are early season as thin areas persist.
- Walking is not allowed.
- Sled Hill is Open.
- Classic Tracks are set where snow allows.

Tuesday morning: Warm and wet groom. I was able to reset skate and classic on Yeti and Campground loops. Classic turned out well. Skate track turned out decent on Yeti but it’s a bit rough on Campground. Expect soft conditions.

Consider other alternatives for your recreational opportunities today. It’s a sloppy mess out there and with these warm temperatures and high moisture content you cannot run low enough tire pressure to not leave trail damaging ruts. Temperatures should start to drop and conditions improve after Wednesday. Please ride in temperatures below the freezing mark. Standby for updates.
Please note the USFS dog closure policy Dec 1st – April 15th at this venue.
