Après Ski with the Best Food in Teton Valley

You may have heard about the food scene in Jackson Hole, WY, but did you know another foodie mecca is on the west side of Teton Pass? As our community has grown and expanded over the years, more and more restaurants have opened in Victor and Driggs. Whether you live on the Idaho side, are visiting Grand Targhee, or are taking to the trails in Teton Valley for the day, it’s worth staying for the food.

Horse and Carriage!
Want to mix up your Nordic outing today, how about a game of horse and carriage with your favorite ski buddy!  Thanks to Coach Libby for sending in the great image above of a pair of her Teewinots showing how much fun it can be on your skis, with a friend, doing silly things!

If you’re out with your buddy or not, you should be able to have a nice ski today at Trail Creek; the much anticipated snow has finally arrived with around two inches falling by report time and more forecast throughout the week.

Today’s Husky grooming covered pretty much every trail with the focus of the wood’s section of the grooming journey mostly resetting classic tracks along the way.  Most of the fields, Armin’s, Animal Farm, and Olympic all received multiple passes with fresh skate and classic grooming.  The combination of the fresh snow and 30º temperature made for some of the nicest results in a few days, check it out!

Groomer’s choice for today is Armin’s.

Once the fog lifts the track will be in awesome condition! It’s a little “fast” right now, but when the sun hits it, it will be perfect.

We groom approximately 16km of track for both skate and classic daily. We have a full retail and rental shop. We offer lessons daily. Call us with questions and to book lessons: (307) 732-4130. To keep our track in pristine shape for skiing we do not allow dogs, walking, snowshoeing, or fatbikes.

Following the well above average temperatures this week, skiers may encounter some areas of settling and unevenness on the track. Fortunately, the forecast predicts some possible snow showers starting this evening and continuing through next Thursday. The trails remain in good shape despite the warm weather we have encountered this week and ski conditions should remain favorable following the predicted snow showers. Next update will be Monday 2/5.

  • Trail conditions are variable and thin areas persist.
  • Walking is not allowed.
  • Sled Hill is Open.
  • Classic Tracks are set where snow allows.

It’s incredible the difference a couple of inches can make! I used the ginzu to level out and repair our trails and it turned out really nicely. I’m going to wait for a little more snow before I put new classic track down. In the meantime today will be a great day for a ski of either flavor. The trails are a little soft for bikes but the single track got a fresh groom, bikers and walkers are encouraged to stick to the single track during this storm cycle.

TMR is open to the public daily for skiing, meals, Nordic lessons, and tours! Call the office (307) 543-2000 or visit our website to book your adventure! Check out our live webcam for current conditions.

Please help support trail grooming in GTNP by donating to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. It’s easy and encouraged. All you need to do is visit: GTNPF.org/donate/ and leave the comment “Nordic” in the designation section. There is the opportunity to leave a one time gift or reoccurring monthly donations in any amount.

Gave yeti and campground a quick touch up 2/1. It was tough to reset the classic track in places but it turned out well in places too. Looking forward to this weekends storm. A bit more soft snow will give us more to work with. Conditions should be firm and fast!

Singletrack: 2/2
Team – I headed out to check the SVT and it was raining and still pretty warm. We are going to hold off grooming the Grumpy’s/Hillbender loop tonight. We will try to find time to get it if the weather cooperates over the next few days.

Please note the USFS dog closure policy Dec 1st – April 15th at this venue.

Took a few passes on the skate track with the Ginzu. Didn’t help much. We could use some snow.

Driggs School Loops

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 2/1
Reset skate and classic Wednesday night. If you get out early on Thursday you will have fast, smooth skating. The classic track did not turn out great – the snow is too hard – but it is mostly usable. Snow is very thin going up/down the hills to the upper loop. Watch for rocks. Who would think we would be crust cruising in January? Pray for snow!

Please pick up your trash and dog pop with the supplied Mutt Mitt station.
