Women’s Triathlon Title to Jackson local, Annika Peacock

Father-daughter winter trails enthusiasts! Annika and Brent Peacock, as Annika gets ready for the bike leg of her sprint triathlon. Both competed, and stood on the top step of their respective podiums.

Congratulations to born and raised Jackson local, Annika Peacock, who took home the women’s title in her first race at the USA Winter Triathlon Sprint-Distance National Championships recently in Breckenridge, Co. The post race quote captured by the usatriathlon.org seemed both quintessentially Annika, and a fitting extension of what we like so much in our Nordic community, “It’s a little bit different and there aren’t many people, but the people that are [winter] athletes are just really good people,” Peacock said. “You get to have fun in the snow, so what more could you ask for really?”

Good job having fun and going really fast in the snow Annika!

Trail Creek

Grooming Daily
Last Update 2/28

Coming Soon!
It’s nearly impossible to think Nordic skiing in the valley without thinking of our very own Skinny Skis and another relatively new Nordic skiing opportunity resulting from them is the Skinny Skis Wydaho Nordic Race Series Season Finale which will be at Trail Creek a week from this Saturday on March 9th.  Be sure to mark your calendars and come on out; courses from ½ k to 10 k means there’s something for everyone on the fascinating and unique courses of this new Valley tradition.  Look for maps in the days to come.

If you’re looking to ski fast today, Trail Creek is once again a good bet.  About three inches of light snow has fallen since yesterday’s grooming.  The Husky was out and about, making rounds on pretty much everything.  Classic tracks were reset universally and multiple passes were made on Animal Farm, East Field Woods, and in the fields.  Lots of the funky things like play areas and Nordic X were reset in anticipation of a busy practice schedule this afternoon.  Results were favorable; wherever you go, you will find nice skiing today.

Heavy snow forecast for Friday and Saturday. Groomer’s choice for today is East Fields Woods.

We will be in an adventurous weather pattern this week as just about all forms of stormy conditions and temperatures are expected. We’ll continue to do our best with grooming during this week’s evolving conditions and again would advise skiers to be prepared for a multitude of Nordic conditions this week. Stay safe and enjoy!

The Drift Run, Fat Bike, or Ski

March 8-10, 2024
Pinedale, Wyoming

For the last 100 years Wyoming cowboys have “drifted” their cattle each fall out of the mountains where they go to to the desert for the winter. In this epic event racers experience Wyoming– under Wyoming’s terms–Wyoming style. Choose a discipline–Ski, Bike, Run– then set out to complete the course before mother nature finds a way to finish it for you. It is still very much winter up here in March. The temperatures can be sub zero, the wind can be relentless, and snowfall can be measured in feet.

Mark your calendar so you don’t miss out on all the wonderful events coming up! Explore the highlighted events below or find more events on our website at https://jhnordic.com/events/
