What’s Groomed in Jackson Hole/Teton Valley?

See real-time grooming in the Jackson Hole/Teton Valley region. Find all the latest grooming & fresh groomed tracks.  Plan your next Nordic Adventure with ease.

During this challenging season with a snowpack that is riddled with considerable risk, backcountry skiers may contemplate trying Nordic skiing or fat biking as an alternative while waiting for the snow in the mountains to stabilize. Nordic skiing emphasizes the importance of responsible recreation and offers an opportunity to enjoy the winter landscape while minimizing the risks associated with unstable snow conditions. By making this shift, backcountry enthusiasts can prioritize their safety without compromising their passion for winter sports.

While the backcountry remains at high and considerable avalanche risk, it’s a great time to explore new trails, build up stamina, get a cardio workout or even find a new wintry place of beauty on Nordic skis. Need a few ideas on where to go? Check out our lists of Best of Trails or search by location, name, grooming or untracked, dog friendly, free or other filters on the JHNordic.com/Trails/ page.

Trail Creek

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 1/20
An Enchanting Sight!

A busload of elementary students, excitedly offloading for a joyous session of Nordic skiing, was what was happening yesterday morning just after the completion of the day’s grooming session.  If you’re lucky enough to come out for ski today, you might notice some of their interesting tracks in the East Fields; looks like they had a great time!

As part of your great time skiing today you will discover lots of fresh grooming at Trail Creek.  The Husky was hard at it today, covering nearly every trail in the system.  Double classic tracks along with fresh skate grooming happened around most of the fields with a skate/classic pass through the rest of the system.  Temps are balmy and the base has firmed nicely, with the proper wax you should have a fantastic ski today.

A pair of moose was spotted for the first time in a while today near Son of Gutflop.  So far the ungulate sightings have been mostly elk, but perhaps the recent snow will move in some more moose.  There were some deer tracks on the trails a couple of times in the past week, but no confirmed sightings yet.

Groomer’s choice for today is the warm and calm fields.

Shooting Star

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 1/19
Trails remain in good shape after recent winds and snowy weather. Temperatures will be 5-10 degrees above average for the foreseeable future, which will cause some settling on the track to occur throughout the day. Because this settling effect, there may be a few awkward/choppy sections as the snow profile changes/evolves from packed-powder to hard-packed. Outlook is calling for daily light snow showers or rain/snow mix to occur through Monday. Next update will be Tuesday 1/23. Enjoy!

  • Trail conditions are early season as thin areas persist.
  • Walking is not allowed.
  • Sled Hill is Open.
  • Classic Tracks are set where snow allows.

So much snow! Packed and repacked to try and get Yeti and Campground to firm up. Some rough spots from getting stuck in the soft stuff. Skate and classic are set on both trails.
