BTNF Forest Plan – Get Engaged

In collaboration with Friends of the Bridger-Teton, the BTNF held a Forest Plan Symposium with leading experts who shared their perspectives on effective engagement, the overall importance of forest planning and how communities might bridge diverse interests to create a sustainable future. The symposium recording, summary of panel remarks, responses to audience questions, and a link to sign up for Forest Plan Revision emails are all available on the Bridger-Teton Forest Plan Hub. The BTNF is home to many favorite winter trails and we encourage individuals to engage in the forest planning process.

Round Two!

Yesterday’s two feet has been followed by another foot today as the biggest storm of the winter winds down at Trail Creek.  The three feet of heavy wet snow has been giving our Husky a serious workout, but much progress has been made.  The snow is still coming but the forecast is calling for minimal additional accumulation for the rest of the day and clear and cold conditions overnight which should allow things to set up nicely.  Tomorrow should be an awesome day for the Moose Chase with sunny skies and a high of 31º.

Today’s Husky grooming focused on the Moose Chase course with double passes on the wood’s section and triple passes in the fields.  Warm up areas were also set.  The classic tracks set early in the day did tend to disappear by the end of grooming.  Grooming will resume late this afternoon and early tomorrow morning ensuring a great race tomorrow.  If you haven’t registered yet, there is still time to do so at Skinny Skis until 6 PM today.

Groomer’s choice for today is the Moose Chase course.

Winter finally showed up this am and brought us 15″+ of new snow. We have a fully groomed track for both skate and classic. Obviously with that much new snow the track will be a little soft this am. But with the warm temps it should ski really fast (if you have warm wax on your skis)!

The 20% off sale has been extended through President’s Day! All clothing, skis, boots, and poles are included in the sale.

We groom approximately 16km of track for both skate and classic daily. We have a full retail and rental shop. We offer lessons daily. Call us with questions and to book lessons: (307) 732-4130. To keep our track in pristine shape for skiing we do not allow dogs, walking, snowshoeing, or fatbikes.

Over 2ft of new snow has fallen with this current storm. Anticipate additional accumulations to continue through Friday, with wind speeds increasing throughout today and overnight. Expect storm skiing to exist through tomorrow with drifting likely to occur. Calmer weather and more enjoyable Nordic conditions should return this Saturday. Be sure to keep up with the forecast and ski with caution if you venture out on the trails during this system. Stay safe and enjoy!

  • Storm Skiing with drifting is Expected Thursday & Friday
  • Walking is not allowed.
  • Sled Hill is Open.

Storm skiing today! Ski trails are groomed but it’s been dumping all morning so a lot of the work of the pisten bully has been covered over. If you make it up this way on Friday we recommend enjoying a nice kick and glide tour with a warm wax on your skis.

TMR is open to the public daily for skiing, meals, Nordic lessons, and tours! Call the office (307) 543-2000 or visit our website to book your adventure! Check out our live webcam for current conditions.

Planning on grooming Yeti and campground beginning around eight tomorrow morning. Holding off until then in hopes that most of the snowfall will be behind us. I will do my best to compact the fluffy stuff but it could be pretty soft. I will let you know how things turned out when I’m done.

Singletrack: 2/14
With the significant snow that has fallen and plenty more on the way, we decided to compact the trails without grooming implements. Ladyslippers, Nemo, hillbenders, and BPA have been track packed with a focus on improving off-camber sections.  Our regularly scheduled grooming should resume Friday night… featuring hillbenders!  Enjoy that powder in the meantime 😃

Please note the USFS dog closure policy Dec 1st – April 15th at this venue.
