What’s in Your (Nordic) Pack?

Its the most wonderful time of the year! Its the time of year to dial your systems. As the weather ramps up and as the season gets rolling, its probably a good idea to take inventory of your kit. With the holidays upon us, now is the time to identify what your set up is missing and to drop those hints to your friends and family!

At JHNordic we know what it is like to hop on the trail and realize you forgot something. Yeah, that’s is the worst feeling there is. We love to help with trip planning for your next Nordic adventure. And one of the key components for a successful trip is preparation. Here is an update from our last What’s in Your (Nordic) Pack? blog post. REI has also shed some light on the subject with their  checklist for cross-country skiing.

Trail Report- Bradley Taggart

December 13, 2020 – Many people were out and about, on XC skis and snowshoes,  taking advantage of the sunny afternoon. While the trails are still a bit shallow for grooming, the snow was great and made for an enjoyable day on skis. Here’s hoping the incoming snow will provide a more substantial base for the tails and allow for groomed access!

Racing This Week!

The racing season begins on Saturday this week with the first event of the year being a Wyoming High School invitational race.  Coach Katie Paddock who is in charge of the high school team will also be in charge of this race.  The format will be different from previous years due to health concerns but the goal remains the same to allow youth to do their best in our great sport of Nordic skiing.  Spectators will be limited but results will be posted along with other details of the race as the day draws near.  The week’s schedule is below.

Overnight we’ve had a bit of a respite from the snow showers with cool temperatures starting in the slightly below zero range.  Snow does return this afternoon and continues through the week.  Today’s grooming was a Pisten Bully best line skate pass through pretty much every trail that has been recently groomed.

The couple of inches from the previous days are still skiing quite nicely and as the temps warm today you should be able to find some quite nice skiing.

Groomers’ choice for today is Cle’s Climb!

We are looking for volunteers to help out this season primarily during the holidays (Dec 19-Jan 3). Work 2 full days or 4 half days in exchange for a season pass.

The work will be getting people into rental skis, poles and boots and answering general questions. All renters will be outside getting geared up this season to keep things safe and to comply with CDC guidelines. We are fully masked and taking all covid precautions so that everyone stays healthy!
