Bradley and Taggart Lakes

Grand Teton National Park

Fee: $0.00 - donations appreciated

Access:

Drive north on Hwy 89N from Jackson to Moose and enter Grand Teton National Park. An entrance fee or park pass is required. Continue north for 3.2 miles to the Taggart Lake Trailhead parking area.

Description:

Easily accessible from the Taggart-Bradley Lakes parking lot, this intermediate ski is a convenient way to clock some Nordic miles while taking in alpine lake views.

Parking: Available at the Taggart Lake Trailhead parking area.

Note: Early in the season, the lake may not be frozen enough to ski on. Do not venture onto the lake until well into winter, after several weeks of consistently freezing temperatures. Check with GTNP staff for current conditions.

Skiing Experience: The trail is moderately challenging, with a gradual rise and some steeper sections. Suitable for skiers with some experience, especially in managing narrow and uphill tracks.

Dogs: Dogs are not allowed on this trail.

Directions:

Beginnings: From the Taggart-Bradley Lakes parking lot, head due west for 500 yards following the ski tracks across the open meadow.
Uphill Stretch: The trail rises gradually, entering a grove of aspens, crossing a creek, and continuing north above a horse ranch. After 400 yards, it turns right (west) and heads uphill on a steeper grade. Note that this trail is narrow, and some skiers may prefer to remove their skis for this section.
Views: At the top of the forested moraine, enjoy a magnificent view of the Grand Teton. Fallen trees along the trail provide nice spots for a picnic or rest.
Taggart Lake Variation: On the return, head south to Taggart Lake and return to the parking lot via either the same trail or the Beaver Creek loop south of Taggart Lake (see Taggart Lake Trail description).
Return: via the same path. For a variation, head south to Taggart Lake and use one of the return trails.
Winter Grooming: The trail is not groomed but is usually packed down by previous skiers. Early in the season, ensure the lake is adequately frozen before skiing on it.
