Last day to enjoy Grooming at Turpin Meadow Ranch | TWydaho Ride Groomed Winter Challenge Wildlife | Calendar of Grand Teton and Yellowstone

Last day to Enjoy Grooming at Turpin Meadow Ranch

Come enjoy the last day of grooming at Turpin Meadow Ranch! We have plenty of sunshine and fast trails up here for the last day to enjoy before our daily grooming comes to an end. Today, while the trails will be freshly groomed and open, our restaurant will be closed. The guide’s recommendation is a classic ski in the valley or fat bike single track in the morning followed by an afternoon skate ski in the hills once they soften up a bit.

Get out and enjoy the freshly groomed track and thank you for a great season Turpin Meadows!

Wydaho Ride Groomed Winter Challenge with Kait Boyle

Ride our favorite fat biking trails to help fundraising for grooming machines for TVTAP and Friends of Pathways: March 6th to March 27th.

Kait Boyle has partnered with Fitzgerald’s Bicycles to bring awareness to the winter grooming efforts in our communities! For the next three weeks, March 6 to 27 (weather depending), we are challenging you to get out and ride 4 world-class fat biking trail systems: Southern Valley Singletrack System (Victor, ID), Cache Creek Singletrack System (Jackson, WY), Horseshoe-Packsaddle Snowmobile Trail System (Driggs, ID) and Teton Canyon Trail (Alta, WY).

The goal is to ride a route that may not be your usual routine or in an area for the first time, while also bringing awareness to what it takes for these community organizations to keep our winter trails riding!

Wildlife Calendar of Grand Teton and Yellowstone

In an ecosystem with the dramatic seasonal temperature swings of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, the landscape and wildlife can look remarkably different from month to month. If you have only visited the parks in one season, returning to visit in another time of year will reveal a whole new world of wildlife activity. Here is a calendar featuring some of the wildlife highlights from month to month across the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Lost Dog- At Emily’s Pond

Charlie is a 20 lb golden doodle that went missing around 10:30am on March 4 at Emily Steven’s park. He is not from this area. He is incredibly friendly and was last seen with a silver prong collar with no tag. He is microchipped.
If you have seen Charlie or have any information on him please call Josh at (404) 436-8411

Trail Creek

Last Updated: 3/6

Racing-Day 1!
License plates from as far away as Washington and California are descending upon Trail Creek today for the first day of racing in the Western Youth Championships.  Covid safe racing waves begin at 8:30 this morning as the hundreds of young racers give their best shot at skiing fast around the fields.  Today’s technique is classic.
While the fields are closed to recreational skiing, the woods are open for those wanting to access from the end of the Old Pass Road.  No grooming happened in the woods today, but temps have remained cool enough that skiing should work pretty well.
Race results should be posted on the website link above as they become available.
Groomer’s choice is for the racers to ski fast.

Shooting Star

Last Updated: 3/4

Grooming today (Thursday 3/4) will be ongoing through about 10 am, as a mechanical issue with the snowcat delayed our start. Overall, skiing should continue to be very enjoyable through this weekend with lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures in the forecast. The warm afternoon temps combined with cold overnight lows will begin to promote springtime conditions. Skiers will now encounter a hardpacked surface with icy sections and inconsistent classic track depths, as the grooming equipment struggles to cut through the evolving icier profile compared to the previous packed powder like snow. Typically, in the springtime, conditions will be icier/firmer in the morning, softer around lunchtime/early afternoon, and potentially slushy by late afternoon. Please, plan ahead and be prepared on warm days that trail conditions will be constantly changing throughout the whole day. Lastly, we finished the black sand application to the greens and a friendly reminder to always stay off these surfaces. Enjoy the skiing and soak up the sunshine! Next Update will be Monday 3/8.
