An Invitation to Help Shape the Bridger-Teton

The Bridger-Teton National Forest is planning for the future, and the Forest needs your help. National forests are required by policy to update their plans periodically to account for new science, new issues, and changing conditions. The Bridger-Teton National Forest has released a Story Map along with a comment form to gather people’s initial thoughts about the future of the Forest. A simple comment form is available for people to contribute their ideas about important places, trends affecting the Forest, important topics to be addressed, and ideas for future engagement.

Forest Supervisor Chad Hudson said he knows people are anxious to start contributing to the Bridger-Teton’s forest planning effort. “The Story Map and comment form are a good way for people to start sharing their thoughts. We believe the public comments will be a valuable addition to information we are compiling for the Draft Assessment to be released later this spring”. Providing comments by March 30, 2024 would be most helpful.

Winter Reset!
Take 4 inches of fresh light snow, drop the temp down into the teens, and we’ve set the calendar back several months from where we were a day or two ago; full winter splendor reigns today at Trail Creek!  The Husky breezed through every trail today, setting fresh classic tracks on every trail throughout that journey.  Multiple passes were made throughout the fields, Moose Loop, and Animal Farm.

The breeze unfortunately has picked up a bit as the day has progressed, covering some of the classic tracks in the fields.  The snow conditions however did present the perfect opportunity for a major rework of the Nordic X course, now at its most ‘ridiculous of the season’ condition.

Thanks to Coaches Libby and Sam for sending in some great shots of both Teewinots above and Lollipoppers below, enjoying all that winter has to offer, they both have pretty amazing jobs following these groups around!

Groomer’s choice for today is Moose Loop.

We will be in an adventurous weather pattern this week as just about all forms of stormy conditions and temperatures are expected. Keep up with the hourly forecast as skiers can expect dramatic swings in temperatures, rains/heavy snows, and windy/drifty conditions. Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday appear to be the calmest days, with heavy snow returning Thursday. We’ll continue to do our best with grooming during this week’s evolving conditions and again would advise skiers to be prepared for a multitude of Nordic conditions this week. Stay safe and enjoy!

The Drift Run, Fat Bike, or Ski

March 8-10, 2024
Pinedale, Wyoming

For the last 100 years Wyoming cowboys have “drifted” their cattle each fall out of the mountains where they go to to the desert for the winter. In this epic event racers experience Wyoming– under Wyoming’s terms–Wyoming style. Choose a discipline–Ski, Bike, Run– then set out to complete the course before mother nature finds a way to finish it for you. It is still very much winter up here in March. The temperatures can be sub zero, the wind can be relentless, and snowfall can be measured in feet.

Mark your calendar so you don’t miss out on all the wonderful events coming up! Explore the highlighted events below or find more events on our website at https://jhnordic.com/events/
