Best Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Trips in Grand Teton National Park
Winter in Jackson Hole. The breathtaking peaks of the Teton Range are covered with a deepening snowpack, to the delight of downhill skiers and snowboarders at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Grizzly and black bears and smaller mammals are hibernating beneath the snow, and herds of elk and bison are retreating to the southern end of the Jackson Hole valley, seeking out winter habitat. Pronghorn antelope and mule deer have migrated south to the Red Desert.
As snow covers the valley of Grand Teton National Park, a winter wonderland has emerged, providing ample opportunities for exploration on cross country skis or snowshoes. Snow, Snow and more Snow! Getting out there this Weekend
Get out right behind the groomer at any of the Trails groomed on a Sunday, for easier skiing. There will be no grooming on the Teton park Road in GTNP Sunday due to a snow cat mechanical issue. Bring your classic skis instead and follow the skier track or break trail in the meadows.
This weekend break trail up your favorite off-track trail -be ready to cover less distance and a workout.
Enjoy the magic of mid-winter, listening and watching for birds like trumpeter swans spotted at Teton Pines, Pine Grosbeaks, and lots of smaller birds in trees.

The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club is reaching out to our community to let you know that our Pisten Bully Fundraising Campaign has now gone public to over 400 members of our community who are users, donors, and supporters of the trails at Trail Creek just like you. We ask for your support to reach our fundraising goal by the end of the winter season, and for your help spreading the word on our goal to secure a new Pisten Bully.

Enjoying the Snow!
And there’s plenty to enjoy today at Trail Creek! Throughout most of this morning’s grooming the snow was falling heavily with about 6 inches accumulating throughout today’s session. Add this on top of the 6 or so inches before that and the totals are reaching the “pretty deep” category.
The only tool able to move through all of the heavy snow was the roller which was able to make multiple passes on almost all trails. If you come out to enjoy the white bounty today you will probably notice the major amount of snow that fell between passes.
Yes conditions are rustic today, and yes there are no classic tracks, but yes you can have fun skiing through the very snowy woods today as well.

Cache Creek

Groomed Cache to Noker 2 wide, hagen, sidewalk, hagen highway, river trail, and sidewalk around the trailhead. The sidewalk between the trailhead and bridge 2 is wind hammered and not groomable right now by human power but everything else should set up nice with the colder temps tonight.

Trip Report: This first photo is from an annual overnight at Turpin Meadows, and the second two from yesterday –We began a snowshoe up Blacktail Butte but the winds caused us to rethink, quickly! Instead, we toured the more sheltered, skier tracked Gros Ventre campground down to the River — beautiful!
