Trip Report: Trail Creek
Great Sunday at Trail Creek. Freshly groomed tracks at 1:30p. Beautiful views of the Sleeping Indian, and only a few skate and classic skiers. Moose tracks with their characteristic heart shape down the middle of the trail, though by 1:30, they were off in some quiet corner of the woods. Nice place to run into a few local friends!
Cache Creek Trail
Our friendly groomer (thanks to special funding by Friends of Pathways in support of Parks & Rec), and fat bikers and cross country skiers sharing the freshly groomed trail!

Very Busy Day!
Or at least it is going to be a very busy afternoon when the full posse of skiers from every JHSC Nordic team hit the slopes. Luckily we have around 15 kilometers of really nice ski trails which should allow everyone to find their spot. Pictured above are some of our littlest ones, the Lollipoppers.
Today’s grooming at Trail Creek was conducted with the Pisten Bully and covered pretty much every trail that has been groomed this winter. Classic tracks were all freshened yesterday and are in quite nice shape so the primary mission of the day was best line skate grooming. Lots of emphasis was also placed on place for the teams to spread out later in the day. Skiing is simply quite nice.
Looking ahead, our IMD racers are off to Soldier Hollow for a qualifier this weekend and the weekend after that we have the final Wyoming High School race of the season here at Trail Creek. Also results from last weekend’s Teton Ridge Classic are available here.
Groomer’s choice for today is Gut Flop.

Sunny days are here for awhile and the skiing will be great! We groom 16km for skate and classic daily. We offer private lessons daily—please call the shop to schedule. We still have a good selection of gloves and hats but have a smaller selection remaining of pants and jackets by Swix and Daehlie. We have a small selection of skate and classic gear in the shop. Our ski/boot/pole sizes are very limited so please call us before showing up to see if we have what you need! Daily grooming, wide corduroy skate ski lanes with well defined classic tracks make for excellent ski conditions. Skate and classic cross country ski/ boots/ pole rentals. . If you want to explore Grand Teton NP and the Jackson Hole area on xc skis, we carry the must have xc ski trail guidebook for our region in the shop: https://www.facebook.com/SkiYellowstone Please call or email Cody for more details: (307) 733-1733 or tetonpinesxc@gmail.com |

Friendly reminder to all Nordic participants that the trails are closed daily until 9am. Using the trails prior to this time increases the odds of severe, even fatal injuries, to you or your dog because of the ongoing daily aggressive grooming combined with the very poor visibility of the dusk hours. That being said, the trails continue to ski great and look to stay that way through Tuesday. More inclement weather (rain/wind/snow) is forecasted on Wednesday, which may likely cause for less than ideal conditions during the system. Next Update will be Thursday 1/14. Enjoy and stay safe on the trails!
Please See the following Restrictions
- Dog Loops & All Nordic Skiing Trails OPEN
- Sled Hill OPEN
- Classic Tracks SET
- Snow Shoeing Loop OPEN
- Casual Walking Not Permitted

No new snow the past few days but the cold temps have really set the tracks up nicely. Fat biking has been the go-to the last couple days, and skate skiing in the afternoon has been good and fast. To help with social distancing and to get you on the trails faster please purchase your trail passes and sign your waivers online in advance (see link below). As always, remember to recreate responsibly. Bring a mask as it is required to enter the lodge. Lunch and dinner are both by reservation only.
