Trip Report: Grand Teton National Park

We love GTNP grooming!

A skier clears the classic track to let the groomer pass on the Teton Park Road Sunday. In addition to giving groomers plenty of space, be sure to give them a wave, a thumbs up, or shout out a thank you if you see them on the trail.

Trail Creek

Grooming Daily
Last Update: 12/11

Snowy Sunday!

The frozen bounty from above continues to grace the trails today at Trail Creek with an additional 6-10 inches expected over the next 48 hours.  We are continuing to run ahead of normal, still maintaining 137% of normal precipitation on our local snow reporting site

Today’s grooming was an early morning outing with the Ginzu groomer.  Yesterday’s classic tracks were hanging in there pretty well so the focus today was to buff out yesterday’s skate tracks.  The Ginzu covered pretty much every trail, you can check out the map of grooming on the Nordic Pulse website.  Our link to the site is working pretty well although there are a few trails which are not quite recording properly as today nearly every trail was groomed although a few don’t show as being groomed that were.

We are working hard to get our Husky back on the trails, not exactly sure how long it is going to take but will let you know as soon as we know more, thanks so much for your understanding.  Finally on the wildlife front, our friendly fox has been spotted numerous times around the cabin, the moose population is a little lighter than past years with several bulls and cow calf pairs being spotted, and our resident elk herd continues to enjoy our grooming and seem to be much more sociable than in years past.

Groomer’s choice for today is a nice snowy tour through the woods.

Shooting Star

Grooming Schedule: Sunday, Monday, & Saturday
Last Update: 12/9
More snow is expected to fall each day through Monday. Expect breezy conditions Friday afternoon, followed by calmer & cold conditions. The Sled Hill will officially be open Saturday and grooming frequency on this area will be done as needed throughout the season… Coverage on the sled hill is great for sledding, but still on the thin side for grooming more than once or twice per week. Overall, skiing should be enjoyable over this weekend, but please be advised that winds could pick up Friday afternoon creating drifty conditions. Next update will be on Monday 12/12.

Ongoing Trail Notes

  • No Walking Allowed
  • Sled Hill Closed Until Saturday 12/10/2022
  • Early Season Conditions Exists (Thin/Bare Spots)

Reminder we’ll be training new staff on grooming equipment over the next couple of weeks. Expect grooming to be ongoing through 10am until operators become more experienced. Thanks and I’ll send a more formal update later today.

Sherman Park

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Last Updated: 12/9

Skate: Set | Classic: Not Set
Gave everything a fresh roll with a half inch of new. Did not reset classic as there was not enough new snow but the track is still holding up well. Pay attention by school and rodeo area as it bumpy and could have some rocks in that area. Still grass and twigs sticking through on the track but should be skiing well! Will try and get out this weekend to pack it down if we get a few inches. Cheers
