Jackson Hole Nordic Recreational Masters Clinics

Hosted by Masters Coach Scott Horn and Jackson Hole Ski Club Nordic team coaches, the clinics are back for Season 3! There will be 8 clinics every other week from 11am-12:30pm. Starting on this Thursday, December 10th and continuing until March 18th, the clinics will alternate between skate skiing and classic cross-country.

Sign up for the full series and receive the latest JH Nordic buff. Or, you can attend on a drop-in basis and touch on the specific skills that suit you.

Work on your technique and form with professional tips and exercises from USSA certified coaches. Stay and ski all day with your clinic ski pass at Teton Pines Nordic center. There will be two coaches and 2 small groups per clinic, and plenty of outdoor space to stay socially distanced. Meet local nordic skiers, bring your friends and family.

We ask that everyone wear a mask or double buff and to be cognizant of their impact on others.

Sidewalk Sale at Teton Pines Nordic Center

Teton Pines Nordic Center continues their weekend sidewalk sale. Stop by during their normal shop hours of 9am-4pm to dial in your new-to-you set up!

Prices for rental packages (skis, bindings, boots, poles) are listed under $200. Most boot sizes remain for men, women, and kids. The sale is great for those looking into clothing or classic gear, as Teton Pines Nordic Center is not selling skate gear at this time.

If you are looking to ski, you’ll find about 90% of their tracks groomed for both skate and classic. Early season conditions do exist, so beware of some thin areas around the track.

Winter Recreation In Effect On Teton Park Road

Travel on the majority of the Teton Park Road, Moose-Wilson Road, and Signal Mountain Summit Road within Grand Teton National Park is now open to over-snow access only. The designated portions of these roads now accommodate winter recreation, and the use of wheeled vehicles is prohibited for the season.

The 14-mile section of the Teton Park Road between the Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge will be groomed approximately three times a week dependent on snow and weather conditions.
Tuesdays – Four lanes groomed Taggart to South Jenny Lake
Fridays – Two lanes groomed Taggart to Signal Mountain
Sundays – Four lanes groomed Taggart to South Jenny Lake

Stay tuned for grooming start date.

Trail Creek Nordic

Last Updated: 12/5

Guess what? It’s another awesome sunny day at Trail Creek today! Our current stable weather is once again in force with a cool morning and a slightly below freezing afternoon on today’s docket. If you are a Nordic skier this means that the snow that has been giving you some pretty good opportunities will continue to do so for some time.

The teams were skiing pretty hard yesterday so the Pisten Bully was called into action today; making skate only passes on most trails. The close field received multiple passes. The snow is quite firm with grouser tracks showing in some places, but should ski pretty well. There are reasonable classic tracks in the close field and the Armin’s area. Snow chances have returned to the forecast beginning Wednesday so keep your fingers crossed.

The moose were pretty active on the National Forest today with the recently arrived big bull finally standing for a picture. He is one of the larger ones to grace our trails in recent years.

Groomer’s choice for today is Shades of Gray.

Stilson and Game have been groomed with the snowmobile. Both still have very thin coverage with many uneven areas but are skiable just not great. Cache creek has been groomed by friends of pathways. All other trails still need substantial snow until we can groom.

We will have skiing available but be prepared for early season conditions. Snow coverage is thin in some areas. We hope to be able to remain open for skiing until we receive more snow, but the forecast is looking pretty sunny over the next 10 days.

Southern Valley Singletrack

Grooming Schedule: As needed
Last Updated: 12/4
Singletrack: Set

The singletrack trails are in incredible shape considering the lack of snow we have received. These trails have not been groomed in about 2 weeks and the colder temperatures have helped tremendously. However, please be aware of the warmer temperatures coming this week especially by mid-day. Please drop your tire pressure when you’re creating a rut deeper than 1″ and educate your friends and peers if you notice someone else leaving a rut. Not everyone knows this trick or treat. Enjoy the fast tracks!
