Sidewalk Sale at Teton Pines Nordic Center

Since receiving their new rental fleet, their existing classic rentals can now be yours. The sale will take place this weekend, 12/5 and 12/6 during their normal shop hours of 9am-4pm.

Items will be priced a la carte and as packages. Prices for rental packages (skis, bindings, boots, poles) will be under $200, but will vary depending on the condition of the gear. Most boot sizes remain for men, women, and kids. Unfortunately, they are NOT selling any skate gear at this time. Clothing options are also on sale.

Thanks to the presence of another sunny, warm day, all sale items will be set up outside. Teton Pines Nordic Center is also equipped with 100% touchless payments. They are also open for the season with about 90% of their tracks groomed for both skate and classic. Early season conditions do exist, so beware of some thin areas around the track.

Trip Report -GTNP- Taggart to Climbers Ranch & Lucas Fabian Cabins – XC Classic Ski Loop

With these winter sunny days, blue skies, no wind, this is a perfect time to explore GTNP by XC classic skiing. Grand Teton NP is relatively quiet, before the Teton Park Road between Taggart and Signal Mtn starts its winter grooming schedule next week. Skiing along the non-groomed road this week is smooth and pleasant, with skier tracks. The meadows from Taggart north to Lucas Fabian cabins are also smooth. We enjoyed seeing the snow and frost crystals on the bitterbrush (moose favorite food!). Bear spray recommended for a few more weeks, until we are more confident that bears are fully in hibernation.

Winter Recreation Begins with Over-Snow Access

Travel on the majority of the Teton Park Road, Moose-Wilson Road, and Signal Mountain Summit Road within Grand Teton National Park is now open to over-snow access only. The designated portions of these roads now accommodate winter recreation, and the use of wheeled vehicles is prohibited for the season.

Once snow begins to accumulate on the roadbeds, the status is changed to over-snow access and approved winter activities such as cross-country skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing become possible. Bicycles, including, snow/fat/electric bikes, are not permitted on roads designated for over snow access. Bikes are allowed on roadways open to motor vehicle use in Grand Teton National Park.

The 14-mile section of the Teton Park Road between the Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge will be groomed approximately three times a week dependent on snow and weather conditions.
Tuesdays – Four lanes groomed Taggart to South Jenny Lake
Fridays – Two lanes groomed Taggart to Signal Mountain
Sundays – Four lanes groomed Taggart to South Jenny Lake

Stay tuned for grooming start date.

Trail Creek Nordic

Last Updated: 12/3

A couple of fascinating sights were spotted around Trail Creek during today’s grooming. First off in the Shades of Gray area one particularly industrious squirrel had been extra busy, depositing hundreds of cones directly on our lovely trails.

The other assiduous resident today was our badger. This image is a huge mound of dirt at the base of “Son of Gutflop”, one of our kid’s favorite jumping areas. When a bit of snow falls on this 3 foot pile of dirt the kids will have the base of an amazing kicker, thanks badger! While the East Fields are waiting for more snow to be set, there is a Ginzu rabbit trail leading out through the East Field Woods that you could use to check this out if you would like.

Yesterday was a light practice day and therefore today’s grooming only really needed a quick pass of the Ginzu to buff out the tracks. Most every trail did receive a pass and skiing will continue firm and fast today. Pretty good classic tracks will be found in the close field and in the Armin’s area.

Groomer’s choice for today is Cle’s Climb.

Stilson and Game have been groomed with the snowmobile. Both still have very thin coverage with many uneven areas but are skiable just not great. Cache creek has been groomed by friends of pathways. All other trails still need substantial snow until we can groom.

We will have skiing available but be prepared for early season conditions. Snow coverage is thin in some areas. We hope to be able to remain open for skiing until we receive more snow, but the forecast is looking pretty sunny over the next 10 days.

Southern Valley Singletrack

Grooming Schedule: As needed
Last Updated: 12/4
Singletrack: Set

The singletrack trails are in incredible shape considering the lack of snow we have received. These trails have not been groomed in about 2 weeks and the colder temperatures have helped tremendously. However, please be aware of the warmer temperatures coming this week especially by mid-day. Please drop your tire pressure when you’re creating a rut deeper than 1″ and educate your friends and peers if you notice someone else leaving a rut. Not everyone knows this trick or treat. Enjoy the fast tracks!
