Trip Report: Brooks Lake Lodge

Beautiful ski into Brooks Lake and the BL Lodge via the snow-covered, snowmobile packed road. Stunning views of the Pinnacles as one approaches the lake.

As Brooks Lake Lodge has become ultra popular with the snowmobile tour community, the Lodge was packed with dozens of snowmobilers and machines. No longer the tranquil skiers destination of the past.

Thank you Ian E. for the trail report and the photos!

Annual Cross Country Ski Areas Association Conference

April 7 – 8, 2020

Please join CCSAA at its Annual Conference April 7 & 8 at Bogus Basin in Boise, ID. The Conference is a great opportunity to not only listen to relevant speakers within our cross country community, but to spend time with other owner/operators of cross country ski areas, to get some great spring skiing and share ideas of what works and does not work.

This is an excellent forum to engage with all aspects of Cross Country – Nordic professionals, best practices, industry trends.

State Championships!

The final day of the 2020 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing Championships was another great one for our athletes. Not only did both the boys and girls finish first in the team category, Elijah Weenig was the fastest male classic skier in the state and Natalie O’Brien and Kate Brigham were the first and second fastest female skiers. Congratulations to all the athletes and the coaches! Thanks also to Coach Dan for the great picture above. All the results can be viewed at the High Plains Nordic site.

As grooming progressed the snow warmed enough that the final passes on some of the woods trails had to be completed with the roller. However, whether you are skating our classic skiing you should be able to find plenty of nice skiing wherever you go, although the fields are the nicest.

After a few inches of snow over night everything groomed wonderfully, new classic track was put in and the fat bike trails were groomed as well. Looks like there’s going to be sporadic snowfall throughout the day also. Trails might also be a bit on the soft side today.

The levee is groomed and in Ok shape. The classic track is shallow because of how firm the track is right now. Stilson will be done around 9:45. The school fields are groomed and in good shape.

The track is skiing great after some intensive grooming was warranted this past week to smooth things out from Monday’s wind event. Look for more enjoyable weather through Saturday afternoon followed by snowier conditions on Sunday. Have fun!

Teton Village Pathway Trail

Grooming Today
Update: 2/22

Skier Update: Trail is ‘ groomed’ – not perfectly smooth corduroy, more “flattened and rolled”. Occasionally, there is a classic cross-country track, sometimes not. Certainly a nice hour and bit around the golf course with great views, a fun place to ski if you are looking for a new flat, groomed trail to try out.

Groomed with classic track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
