38th Jackson Hole Downhill AND 45th Karen Oatey Pole Pedal Paddle: Registration Opens TODAY
38th Jackson Hole Downhill
Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club has been hosting one of the few (if not the last!) open, non-sanctioned community downhill races for 38 years!
The course has been reviewed by the renowned Tommy Johnson, who visited in December to consult on the course set and features. The Downhill course will run from the top of the Crags to Moran trail – just inside the boundary of Grand Teton National Park! This year’s redesigned event has a new team racing component, which offers a high-powered, high-caliber event celebrating alpine ski racing in Jackson and beyond. The traditional community race that Jackson locals know and love is open to anyone and everyone with a need for speed.
All proceeds from the FCExcavation Jackson Hole Downhill supports JHSC’s exceptional programing, and provides opportunity for over 500 local student-athletes. Join Us!
Pole Pedal Paddle
Join in on the fun for this years’ Pole Pedal Paddle event, a Jackson Hole tradition where racers compete in in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, biking, and boating all in one race! The event raises money for the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club, a non-profit that provides affordable ski and snowboarding programs to local youth.

Snow Angels!
In addition to snow angels, yesterday’s outing found icicles, pine cones, chickadees, animal tracks, squirrels, the Nordic cow bell, feathers, and bird nests which were all part of Lollipopper practice. Thanks to Coach Libby for forwarding the images and giving us all a look back into what it was that brought us into the Nordic world and how to continue to value the little things (and ones) in life!
There is plenty of room for your very own snow angel if you make it out to Trail Creek today. In addition to all the wonderful Lollipopper discoveries you will find 15+ kilometers of freshly groomed ski trails. Today’s grooming was mostly best line Pisten Bully skate grooming as yesterday’s classic tracks are still quite nice. The double classic tracks in the close field were reset today.
Conditions as of 11:30 were slightly chilly with a temperature of -16ºC/4ºF, calm winds, and partly cloudy skies. Quite a few moose were out today with two confirmed sightings of antlers yet which is getting kind of late for them to be still hanging on the moose. The guy above was feeling kind of photogenic today.
Groomer’s choice for today is Armin’s.

It was VERY cold this morning! At the time of grooming we hit -16 which is making for hard and fast trails! We reset the skate track this morning and the classic is in great condition. A little dusting is expected this evening and we will groom it out first thing in the morning. Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to be beautiful! Come see us while the sun is out and the trails are fast! Bring your dog!
