The Trail Creek crew has been putting a lot of effort into buffing out the Close Field trails and the 10k course will be laps in the Close Field. Whether or not there will be a classic track is dependent on how the snow forecast develops this week.
Hope to see you there!
About Betty Woolsey:
Woolsey was a member of the first-ever Women’s US Ski Team in 1935. She was also on the first Women’s US Olympic team in 1936, when alpine skiing debuted at the Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Woolsey, the top female American in downhill, was captain of the women’s Olympic team through 1940. In 1942 Woolsey settled in Jackson Hole and founded the Trail Creek Ranch, which she opened as a ski center and dude ranch in 1946. She also worked as a journalist, writing for American Ski Annual and Ski Illustrated. Trail Creek Ranch became a base for the Olympic biathlon tryouts, Jackson Hole’s Ski Club’s Nordic program, and the Junior Nordic National Championships.
Volunteers Needed for Trail Creek Races this weekend!
The Wyoming High School and Intermountain Division Race and Betty Woolsey Race are both happening this weekend at Trail Creek. Please show all the athletes and the Jackson Hole Ski Club support by volunteering to help at the race. Volunteer opportunities can be found here!
Trip Report – Cache Creek Road
Thank you Nancy Leon for our second trip report of the season! Snow coverage is soft and perfect for fat biking, with tracks by bikers and walkers. The occasional large rock remains just at the surface, so could catch a ski, so a bit early for cross-country skiing. Perfect for walking and dogs. Remember to keep dogs on leash in the parking area for the first 1/2 mile. Single-track seems to be in decent shape on the Hagen and Putt Putt side trails.
