Dog Friendly Featured Trail: Granite Hot Springs
Granite Hot Springs is a favorite year-round easy get-away, with its natural hot spring mineral water pool to soak in, surrounded by the high peaks of the central Gros Ventre range. The hot springs flows from the natural spring into a clean cement pool, then into Granite Creek.
In winter, beginning Dec 1st through May 1st, the access road (from the highway into the hot springs) is closed to vehicular traffic (cars, trucks), however is permitted for snowmobiles, dog-sleds, skiers and fat bikes. The trail to the Hot Springs is approx. 9.5 miles one way (19 miles return), so you want to be comfortable with this distance, as well as equipped for the cold.
The trail is groomed by snowmobile, so depending on snowfall, the surface can range from smooth tracks to hard chunks in the spring. The trail runs in the open, passing the occasional grove of aspens, spruce and pine. The Hot springs charges a fee to soak. Remember to stay hydrated for the journey out. No cell service.
Dog friendly!

Nordic Carnival!
Yesterday was the Nordic Carnival event! Race courses from ½ K to 10 K plus Nordic X fun; throw in a food truck and it doesn’t get any better than that. All the details are available at the Nordic Carnival webpage.
A couple of notes on the course; a limited classic track was set in the initial two Pisten Bully passes 2/7 so those of you who enjoy the kick and glide are welcome and we had been talking about an extra lap of the 3 K course for the 10 K racers but the direction now is that just the one lap will be plenty. If you want to ski Gut Flop twice you’ll have to go back after the race. Here is the link to the race course map.
6 AM (2/8) conditions are 1ºC/33ºF with calm winds and very light snowfall. Since last night’s initial grooming passes about a half inch has fallen. A best line skate pass is being set now.

We received 3-4 inches overnight and it groomed out beautifully this morning with the Pisten Bully. All classic track and skate lanes were reset. As of noon we have received about and inch and half on top of what was already groomed and are expecting more. We will groom everything again first thing in the morning. All in all, with all this snow, our trails are holding up VERY well. We have been maintaining them throughout the snow storms and they will be groomed and ready for everyone to ski! Same with the fat bike single track. Bring your dog!

We groom the track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
