Think Classic Skiing!
The Betty Woolsey Classic Race is only two days away and we are set up for a nearly perfect event with the 10 AM start time conditions forecast to be sunny, calm, and 10ºF, about as good as it can get for a classic race. No skate skis, no problem. Conditions will be so easy that all you need to do is put a little kick wax on your skaters and have a fun time, perhaps not worrying too much about winning, concentrating more on the more esoteric and social benefits of Nordic racing. It should be an awesome classic skiing day.
Today is not far from awesome either with our Christmas present of a foot of fresh snow behaving very nicely as a ski base today. The Pisten Bully was out and about making a pass or two of Saturday’s race course with the result being lots of really nice classic tracks and skate lanes although the skate lanes might be just a smidge softer than perfect.
Groomer’s choice for today is to check out the Betty Woolsey Race Course.

Just like Jimmy Johns, our trails are freaky fast after grooming this morning! The new snow laid down beautifully this morning and we expect them to stay FRESH and FAST over the next few days. Remember: We groom all trails DAILY and they are ready by 9am. Come out to TMR and work off that Christmas dinner… then have lunch in our cozy lodge! Bring your dog!

Teton Pines Nordic

Skiing will be incredible at Teton Pines for the remainder of 2019! The cold temps will allow our track to ski very fast and firm over the next few days. We have skate and classic track set daily.
We still have lesson slots available for next week, but call as soon as possible as they will fill soon.
We have backcountry xc ski packages, skate ski packages, and classic (touring and race) ski packages available. Our sizes are beginning to get more limited, so hurry out if you’d like to get on some new ski gear this winter!
Shooting Star Nordic

The Pistenbully (aka Snowcat) will be out of service likely through the holiday’s due to a hole that formed on a specialized hydraulic hose. Until the part arrives/installed, we’ll continue to groom the course daily using the snowmobile and the Nordic Course should still remain very enjoyable for skiing.
Please, know that grooming may be ongoing throughout the day as the snowmobile needs to periodically rest so it doesn’t overheat. Also, due to the snowmobile operators exposure to the outside elements, grooming may not occur during severe below zero temperatures. Lastly, we’ll do what we can to freshen up the sled hill as the snowmobile struggles grooming this area. Even though the sled hill may likely not be groomed daily, sledding conditions should remain very firm, fast, and enjoyable for tubing based on the upcoming forecast.
Also, the dog loop has been extended. Stop in to their Nordic Center to pick up a map.

A few updates on the Nordic Track and JHG&T.
Season Passes are available to non members for $100, passes can be picked up in the admin office at JHGTC M-F 9am-5pm or by calling 307.733.7787.
We purchased a new groomer 2 years ago so we do now have a set cross country track with enough room for skate skiers and/or fat bikes next to the set track.
There are no other services available (ie. No lunch) though dinner is offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 5:30pm; Clubhouse amenities are reserved for members only.
We groom the track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

Christmas may be over, but there is still plenty of fun to be had. There are just a few days left to get those 2019 turns in before the New Year arrives.
Temperatures have dropped and it is currently 6 degrees at the summit. Throw on an extra layer and head on up here!

Fat Bike: Yesterday and this morning we completed a 2.5 mile section of new groomed single track. Beginning at lower Kelly Park, climbing to Kelly Park proper with a fun skirting loop around the meadow. It’s set up and ready to ride!
Nordic 12/19: Groomed this morning: Old Road Trail, Upper & Lower Surveyors, Moose Ridge and Tree Loop. Rest of the trails should be in pretty good shape. Everyone do a Snow Dance, we need more snow! 0F degrees at the Nordic Equipment Building, -5F in Surveyor Park this morning.
