On the Blog: What’s In Your Nordic Pack?

We love to help with trip planning for your next Nordic adventure. And one of the key components for a successful trip is preparation. Here at JHNordic we know what it is like to hop on the trail and realize you forgot something. Yeah, that’s is the worst feeling there is. Here is an update from our last What’s in Your (Nordic) Pack? blog post.

Exploring Grand Teton National Park by Snowshoe

Grand Teton National Park offers guided snowshoe tours daily during the winter season. There is a $5 snowshoe rental fee but otherwise, the tour is free! Reservations required: (307) 739-3399.

Trail Creek Nordic

Head for the Woods!

Due to the wind, yesterday’s grooming focused on the woods trails with all of them receiving multiple Pisten Bully passes complete with fresh classic tracks. 3-6 inches of snow fell overnight but due to the relatively warm conditions the Pisten Bully was able to lay down some nice crisp corduroy with nice conditions in the woods.

Of possible interest to Trail Creek skiers is an article in Back Country Magazine (thanks for the image) about the three women involved in the early days of the Trail Creek Ranch and also about the early days of skiing in the area. The fascinating article about Betty Woolsey, Muggs Schultz, and Sis McKean can be viewed by clicking this link.

Groomer’s choice for today is the calm Woolsey Woods.

Turpin Meadow Ranch

After a light snow and some large wind drifts accumulating overnight, the piston-bully made quick work of getting the trails back to normal. They may be a little soft but definitely worth getting out there, especially considering we’re only open for another couple weeks! Bring your dog! Stay classy, Jackson Hole.

Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club

Update: 2/22
Grooming Today

Skier Update: Trail is ‘ groomed’ – not perfectly smooth corduroy, more “flattened and rolled”. Occasionally, there is a classic cross-country track, sometimes not. Certainly a nice hour and bit around the golf course with great views, a fun place to ski if you are looking for a new flat, groomed trail to try out.

Groomed with classic track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

There are precious more beautiful things on the mountain than freshly-groomed corduroy on a clear day, set just perfectly to catch the rising rays of the sun.
