The final Tuesday Night Nordic race was a snowy one!
GTSSF wrapped up the Tuesday Night Nordic community race series with a surprise storm dropping about 6 inches of light powder just before the start. Let’s just say the 2nd lap was easier than the first. One participant said “I had no idea what I was singing up for!” and she finished her laps with a great big smile on her face.
Note to anyone heading out to the Targhee Nordic track: the next scheduled groom is Thursday. Could be some nice snow on the hill and fresh light powder on the track. The Stick of Truth is showing about 6” and thinking that almost all of it came down after closing.

Groomer Updates
Grand Targhee
Currently there is not a classic track set due to a track setting mechanical issue. Grand Targhee does not regroom during storms. You can check the stick of truth webcam, and the GTR weather to guesstimate how long each groom will be good during these light snow cycles. Check the GTR website for status updates.
Trail Creek
Grooming continues! There are some icy patches in the meadows. The upper forest trails still have good skiing.
Teton Valley Trails
Southern Valley – Snow is holding and we are doing some extra work to help preserve snow and set the race course for this weekend’s final hurrah for Nordic athletes across the region – Western Club Championships. Please note the race is on the entirety of Yetis so will be closed for racing (for athlete safety) on Saturday and Sunday. Campground and fat bike trails will still be open.
Teton Canyon – Grooming on regularly scheduled days.
Alta Nordic – Grooming as we can – some sections not suitable for grooming and or have been reconfigured.
Horseshoe – Still grooming once a week.
Southern Valley Singletrack, Centennial Pathway, Teton Reserve, Sherman Park, Driggs – No grooming.

Season Finale – Cancelled
As sure as we all were that mid-March was a great time to hold the season finale, Mother Nature had other plans. The groomer is still grooming at Trail Creek! And there will likely be good skiing this weekend. But there will not be a season finale to the WYDAHO Nordic Race Series.

103 miles of winter wonderland, with over 9,000 ft elevation loss/gain. Self-sufficiency is key, as there are no drop bags, pacers, or cell service along the way. Instead, you’ll navigate your way through varied conditions and temperatures, with check points separated by upwards of 25 miles of challenging terrain.
