Teton Park Road, Moose-Wilson Road, and Signal Mountain Summit Road will be open to winter recreation starting Friday, December 20. Enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and walking in the park during this special time of year.
The road will be groomed three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, weather permitting. Three lanes will be groomed north of Cottonwood Creek Pullout for about one mile. Beyond that, it will change to two lanes.
Parking is available at Taggart Lake Trailhead, Cottonwood Creek Picnic Area and at the gate at the north end of the Teton Park Road near Signal Mountain Lodge.
Rare Pine Marten sighting at Trail Creek!
Coach Rob spotted this little guy on his daily tour around Trail Creek and managed to capture a great shot of a pine marten on the upper section of Moose Loop yesterday! Keep your eyes peeled on your next Trail Creek Nordic adventure and you might spot it too. In the picture on the right, the bigger tracks are distinctive pine marten tracks, the smaller tracks are those of a squirrel that might have been in trouble!
Tips for viewing real-time grooming
Digging in to the different information you can get on the grooming pages, today look for a black dot, a hazard triangle and a trail elevation profile.
The individual links above in the blue box take you to the trail system page. Once you are there, you can toggle the down arrow in the small box in the upper right to see the groomer’s most recent updates.
When you hover over a trail with your cursor, you can see Steve has toggled the potential hazard / use caution symbol on the profile block for Upper Homesite. (above)
If you hop over to the main grooming page at jhnordic.com/grooming, and click on the bar that says Trail Creek Nordic on the regional map, it zooms in the map on the left. Then, on the right side, scroll through the small boxes and click on the Trail Creek Nordic box. The detailed view pops open. In the comments Steve notes Upper Homesite is currently the driest part of the trail system, with potentially less snowpack, things may be still popping through or barely under the surface.
