10th Annual Alta Skate Ski Race
Saturday, February 22
10am – 2pm

This is a beautiful trail race across the foothills of the Tetons. There is something for everyone and fun for all. Come enjoy a very family oriented race in Alta, WY on TVTAP’s Alta Nordic Trail. It is a freestyle race, so either skate or classic skiing is allowed. Kids can choose between the 1/2k, 2.5k, or 6k. The big kids and adults can choose to take on the 10k, or do two laps to conquer the 20k race.
Exploring Teton Springs
Whether you’re looking for nice groomed classic tracks, a wide skate track or a fat bike single track, Teton Springs is a beautiful option. Groomed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by TVTAP, it’s open views of southern Teton Valley, quiet trails (we saw 5 skiers during our 2 hr ski) and gentle flat to rolling terrain make it an excellent choice.
Quick access from Jackson as well as Teton Valley. No dogs allowed. Free (please consider donating at TVTAP.org to support their outstanding Teton Valley trail grooming).
Join us This Thursday for a Skate Ski Clinic
If you haven’t yet, here’s another chance to join us for a Recreational Master’s Clinic. Here’s the rundown:
What is it? The JH Nordic Rec Masters Program is for recreational skiers to improve their techniques, with an average of 10-13 skiers and 1-2 coaches per clinic. Useful tips and fun rounded out every session, more miles and time on both classic cross-country and skate skis.
Who is it for? The clinic is open to all, however, if you are a first time skier or beginner, we recommend taking a lesson or two from Teton Pines Nordic Center to get a strong foundation on your skills and technique.
What is the fee? Drop-in: $35 (includes Teton Pines full day trail pass) or
- Full Season (8 clinics): $225 (includes Teton Pines day trail pass)
- For exisiting Teton Pines season pass holders/TP members: $200
- $30 with Teton Pines Nordic season pass/Teton Pines members
- Free JHNordic neck gaiter “buff” to full season participants

Random Acts of Kindness Day!
The Random Acts of Kindness Day storm ended up dumping about a foot of snow over the trails of Trail Creek. While it is also President’s Day, random acts of kindness are always a great bet, Wikipedia has a great list of suggestions of how you can honor this day.
That foot of snow is well on its way to becoming some really nice Nordic skiing today. As of noon there is a light breeze, patchy thin overcast, and a temperature of -4ºC/25ºF. Today’s grooming was double Pisten Bully passes with fresh classic tracks on almost every trail except for the National Forest trails which only received a single skate only pass as going was a bit on the slow side today due to all the new snow.
Even though there is no school today, most of the JHSC club kids will be out this afternoon so it would be a great time for citizen skiers to come watch the spectacle. Of special note, today is Club Tryout Day. If you know of any youth skiers interested in our programs, just send or bring them out to Trail Creek this afternoon and see what’s going on, all the information is in the link.

Trails groomed out absolutely beautiful this morning with even a glimpse of the sunrise on the Tetons! Thanks to everyone who braved the weather this weekend and storm skied with us the past few days. Trails are in great shape and with sun in the forecast, it should be an unbelievably good week for nordic skiing!

Season Passes are available to non members for $100, passes can be picked up in the admin office at JHGTC M-F 9am-5pm or by calling 307.733.7787.
We purchased a new groomer 2 years ago so we do now have a set cross country track with enough room for skate skiers and/or fat bikes next to the set track.
There are no other services available (ie. No lunch) though dinner is offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 5:30pm; Clubhouse amenities are reserved for members only.
We groom the track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
