Head south from Jackson on US Hwy 189/191S, bear left at Hoback Junction. Follow Hwy 191 to Pinedale (64 miles from Jackson). Turn left onto Fremont Lake Rd. Drive 9.9 miles onto Skyline Dr, then 1 miles to White Pines Ski Resort. Nordic Center is on the NW side (left), opposite alpine ski lifts
Description:
Only 90 minutes south of Jackson is a quiet , family friendly, affordable, yet well developed Nordic Ski area on the western edge of the Wind River Mountains, in Pinedale WY.
White Pines Nordic trails includes the Upper Trail and Lower Trail Systems. The Upper Trails has almost four miles of curvy well-groomed trails (shown in GPS map). The Lower System has approx 10-12 miles of trails. The Upper Trails have the advantage of being at a higher elevation , thus have a longer ski season with more snow, even thought both sections are at 8000+ feet elevation.
In addition to the groomed trails of White Pine Nordic center, there are several nearby trails, such as Skyline road/Elkhart Park trail for even more terrain and vistas to explore.
Note that dogs, snowshoers , fat bikes are not allowed on the Upper groomed trails.
Lower White Pines trails:
Trails accessed at this site include, Lower Meadow Loops, Heart Attack, Moose Ridge, Tree Loop and The Lower Surveyor Park Trail. Skiers with dogs are encouraged to use the trails south of the access road to the Ski Area.
