Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Rentals

Cross country ski and snowshoe rentals are available in Jackson, Teton Village and Wilson, minutes from the Grand Teton National Park trailheads; in Driggs and Victor on the Teton Valley side; at Grand Targhee in Alta; and at Turpin Meadow Ranch on Togwotee Pass. Guided cross country ski and snowshoe tours in Jackson Hole run mainly in Grand Teton National Park and the Bridger-Teton National Forest, usually with a wildlife or natural-history focus, and typically include gear and transport from Jackson. Grand Teton National Park also offers free ranger-led snowshoe walks in winter.

Where can I rent cross country skis in Jackson Hole?

In Jackson: Skinny Skis, Teton Backcountry Rentals, Teton Mountaineering and Black Tie Ski Rentals (delivery). In Teton Village: JH Sports. In Wilson: Teton Pines Nordic Center. On Togwotee Pass: Turpin Meadow Ranch. Most rent classic and skate setups; see the rental table for which shops carry Nordic touring skis and snowshoes.

Where can I rent cross country skis in Teton Valley, Idaho?

Westside Ski & Cycle in Victor, Peaked Sports and Yostmark Mountain Equipment in Driggs, and Grand Targhee Resort's Nordic center in Alta, Wyoming. Southern Valley, Teton Canyon, the Driggs School Loops and Grand Targhee's trails are all within a short drive.

Can I rent gear in Grand Teton National Park?

There are no Nordic rentals inside the park in winter. The closest shops are in Jackson, about 20 minutes south of the Taggart Lake Trailhead, the start of the groomed Teton Park Road; Black Tie Ski Rentals will deliver to where you are staying.

Who offers guided cross country ski or snowshoe tours in Jackson Hole?

Jackson Hole EcoTour Adventures, Peak Performance and The Hole Hiking Experience run guided ski and snowshoe tours, most in Grand Teton National Park and the Bridger-Teton National Forest with a wildlife or natural-history focus. Hoback Sports, Open Range Cycles, Teton Mountain Bike Tours and Wheel Wranglers (rental delivery in greater Jackson) in Jackson; Westside Ski & Cycle in Victor, Idaho; and Turpin Meadow Ranch at the base of Togwotee Pass, which also rents e-fat bikes for its groomed trails.

Do I need a trail pass as well as rental gear?

It depends where you ski. Public trails in Jackson Hole, Teton Valley and the national forest are free (Grand Teton National Park charges a park entrance fee); private Nordic centers — Teton Pines, Trail Creek, Shooting Star, Turpin Meadow Ranch, Grand Targhee — charge a day pass. Grooming on the free trails is funded by donations and we encourage everyone who can to support these trails; see Support Trail Grooming.
