JHSC Club and Community Update
Note from the Head Coach
As you might imagine, Coach Ben has had a few million things on his plate, with somewhere shy of 400 racers not to mention their coaches, ski waxers, racing technical delegates, family, etc. all coming to Trail Creek, and all wanting the best possible Nordic racing conditions. As he was flying by he mentioned that, all in all, things are going well, with the teams and programs mostly flowing like clockwork. The skiers are also digging in and doing their best.
Look back to this report early next week for additional updates.

6 Tons of Thundering Nordic Passion!
Click here for a video of nearly 80 boys/young men in the U18/20 start from yesterday’s races; as they blast by imagine the earth shaking from the nearly endless energy of this young group of racers. Not to leave out the female division, their start can be seen here.
Speaking of endless energy, that award has to go to the legion of volunteers that all pitched in to help sponsor the fantastic racing event that brought nearly 400 racers along with hundreds more support people to our community. Thank you to all involved!
As of 12:15 today at Trail Creek there was a blazing sun beaming over kilometers of great Nordic skiing with the temperature being -5ºC/23ºF and mostly calm conditions. On Saturday almost all woods trails received fresh classic tracks which are still nice today and this morning the Pisten Bully was once again hard at it making two passes with fresh classic tracks in the fields and best line skate grooming in the woods. All in all skiing is really nice.
The image below is of Liza Mayer, just one (the youngest) of the many winners yesterday. All results are available on the event website.

Have those sunglasses handy as rumors of sunshine are in the future forecast! Continued winds and persistent snow showers have deposited ample accumulations onto the trails over the past week. Future forecast is calling for calmer weather after Wednesday. Overall, the course continues to groom out excellent. Throughout this weekend expect softer conditions and possible drifting to occur after the morning groom if windy. Enjoy and cross your fingers this wind lets up!
