31 Mar 20 – Daily Trail Report

Posted by Kathryn Jeffords Posted on March 31, 2020May 15, 2020

Thank you for continually sharing your photos with us of Nordic skiing in Jackson Hole

Groomer Appreciation – Thanks very much to all our Jackson Hole and Teton Valley Nordic groomers!

As our Nordic grooming season slowly winds down , we salute our amazing Nordic grooming teams – often in dark, pre-dawn, in below zero, blizzard conditions,  from Pisten Bully’s to Ginzu groomers and lots in between , keeping complex machines running, reporting back on trail conditions.. Thanks for a wonderful winter! P.S. Feel to write to us to share your gratitude, as Ted K did:

“During a winter in which I got a new hip, and couldn’t backcountry ski, area ski, or skate ski, the valley’s classic set tracks became my go-to rehab and ski fix.  Thank you to all the groomers for such a consistently fine job of grooming, which gave me, and many others, superb tracks each and every day.”

 -Ted Kerasote

Tuesday Last Day of Grooming at Trail Creek Ranch

It’s been a wonderful season at Trail Creek Ranch and today, March 31, marks the last day of grooming. Ski conditions at Trail Creek are excellent- seems like the sweet spot time is between 10:30-1, though depends if you like it firm or soft or somewhere in between!

There will be one last grooming (and report) for the season, probably early to mid-morning as the forecast is for a couple of inches of snow to fall throughout the day.  Even though grooming will stop, skiers should be able to still enjoy the National Forest trails for some time.

Winter Trails & Pathways Survey from Teton County Parks & Rec

Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation would like you take a few minutes and participate in an annual survey related to winter service levels in Teton County and the Town of Jackson. They want to hear your thoughts on ice rinks, grooming, pathway maintenance and sidewalk plowing. Your feedback is very important and will help Parks and Rec provide service levels consistent with community need.

Trail Creek Nordic

Last Day of Grooming Today

Keep on Skiing!

Record numbers of socially isolated skiers continue to make the most of the situation and are utilizing our great resources at Trail Creek to keep healthy. All the smiling skiers above are members of the same family out having a great Nordic ski like you can too. Just remember to keep your distance.

Today’s grooming was kind of a mix up with the classic track being set last night and some additional skate grooming this morning. A dusting of snow has fallen so far today and as of 11 AM conditions have softened just enough so that everything is skiing nicely. Skiing should remain nice throughout the day with forecast highs only in the 30’s,

The Trail Creek permit authorizes us to groom through March 31st (tomorrow!) so there will be one last grooming (and report) for the season, probably early to mid-morning as the forecast is for a couple of inches of snow to fall throughout the day. Even though grooming will stop tomorrow, skiers should be able to still enjoy the National Forest trails for some time. Equipment will be going away throughout the day tomorrow.
