Time flies when you’re having fun. Watch how the seasons change from Fall to Winter in Grand Teton National Park. Maybe you can catch the frame of you skiing.
Fat Biking in Jackson Hole and Teton Valley ID
Fat biking is a super fun way to explore snow-covered winter trails and pathways, especially when the snow is firm and packed. Fat biking has been all the hype and hasn’t lost any steam. With over 40 fat bike friendly trails in Jackson Hole and Teton Valley, there are many opportunities to get to and explore. Go to JHNordic.com/trails/ and click on the fat bike icon to list all trails.
Take a fat bike tour with Teton Mountain Bike Tours, Jackson. Demo, rent or buy a fat bike at Hoback Sports, Fitzgerald Bicycles, The Hub Bikes. Hoback Sports is Closed for the Season in Terms of the Store and thus NO Fat Bike Rentals for the remainder of the season at that location.
Support fat bike grooming: Friends of Pathways, Teton Valley Trails & Pathways. Support Bridger-Teton US Forests – Friends of Bridger-Teton (our public lands where most fat biking is done)
Great Conditions at Trail Creek and Teton Canyon
Trail Creek: Both Classic and skate skiing grooming were in top shape. We headed out at 12-1:30. A few local skiers, some solo, done in small family groups of 2-3. Plenty of space to keep healthy distances.
Teton Canyon: excellent grooming for classic and skate – worth the extra miles if you’re coming from the JH side!
Conditions at Cache Creek
Above are a few photos of current conditions in the Cache Creek area. There were lots of people out today walking, running, biking. It was great to also see families with kids. Disconnecting from the barrage of news and getting some healthy outdoor time is what many people need right now. We are lucky to live someplace with easy access to great outdoor public lands. I had some nice conversations with folks today who recognize that and are so thankful.
The groomed trail in Cache is still great for skiing/walking/running and the groomed single-track is great for biking, walking and running. The Nelson Knoll trail is starting to melt out so is good option for a short walk to hang out on the bench and just chill. The groomed single track is a bit icy so Trax or something similar is advised.
The Cache Creek road is OK but lots of potholes – take it very slow and you are fine. The parking area still has large puddle and ruts so small cars might want to park on top of the hill or at the Hagen entrance.
-Update from L Merigliano..many thanks to our Bridger-Teton USFS staff!

Pole, Pedal, Paddle Cancelled
The Board of Directors and the leadership staff of the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club (JHSC) have canceled the 45th Annual Rendezvous River Sports Karen Oatey Pole Pedal Paddle (PPP), scheduled for April 4, 2020 to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 “Coronavirus.” JHSC was subsequently informed that the Teton County Commissioners have denied the special event permit for the same reasons in action taken at the public meeting March 16. Stay tuned for information about how we will be celebrating the 5-year anniversary of the Karen Oatey Scholarship Endowment, and our progress with scholarships at the Club. |

A Happy Group!
The image above is from just a few days ago of the Devo’s as they were wrapping up their season. Devo’s are always a marvel to watch as they exude nothing but joy in their discovery of the wintery marvels at Trail Creek and what they are able to do on a pair of skis.
There are still plenty of wintery marvels at Trail Creek today. The trails as shown above have been busy as the other options for healthy activities have been limited as of late. An informal skate gathering has been called for today at 11 AM if you come on out make sure you keep your distance as you gather.
The image above shows what happened last night after grooming was completed. The warm snow was easily worked into some nice skating conditions. The classic tracks were all still in pretty good shape last night so grooming efforts focused on skate lanes, most of which received double passes of the Ginzu groomer.
Once again conditions will start hard and lightning fast and then soften as the day warms.
Groomer’s choice for today is to keep on skiing.

Snow conditions are NOT safe outside of the groomed trails. All traffic needs to remain on the groomed areas as the current snow coverage is very deceiving and inconsistent, increasing the likelihood of injuries.

Update: 3/9
From our Nordic track maintenance team:
With rising temperatures and winter coming to an end, adjustments will be made to the route of the groomed trail. Beginning this past weekend, the trail will only be groomed on the north side of Spring Gulch Road.
This accomplishes two important things. For one, it allows us to extend the grooming period of the season because as the roadways clear it becomes increasing difficult and unsafe for the staff to cross the roads with grooming equipment. In addition, suspending grooming operations south of Spring Gulch Road helps us minimize disturbances to the local moose population. In general, please be extra mindful not to disturb wildlife during this important period for their winter survival.

Nordic: Trails above were groomed yesterday morning and should be in decent shape. CCC Ponds grooming is done now due to March 15 wildlife restrictions in place for migrating deer – and they are migrating. If you do use those trails, please give wildlife their space and control your dogs. With these warm temperatures, probably won’t groom the golf course more unless we get a big snow. Thank you to the folks who have helped keep the trails clean and picked up after their pets – that has been a huge help. Thank you also to Andrew Zook who volunteered to groom the fat tire trails – has helped to divert bikes off the ski trails. Will groom above as weather allows.
Fat Bike 2/13: All Lower Kelly Park is groomed with a great riding base. Should be perfect conditions for the next 3-5 days due to high pressure system. For more information contact Geared Up, 307-399-5539 c.307-760-1912, www.gearedupbikes.com

Grooming Has Ended
Spring plowing began in Grand Teton National Park on Monday, March 16. The plowing operations mark the end of over-snow access on the 14-mile section of the Teton Park Road between Taggart Lake Trailhead and the Signal Mountain area.
For safety reasons, visitors may not access the Teton Park Road once plowing operations are underway. Rotary snow removal equipment and plows may be working at any time, and the roadway will be closed to all uses at all times until further notice. Skiers and those on snow shoes using areas adjacent to the roadway are cautions to avoid the arc of snow blown from the rotary equipment because pieces of ice and gravel can be thrown great distances.
