Massive Taylor avalanche Reminds Us of Current Risk of Skiing
Here’s an excellent example of the current risk and danger of skiing (both nordic and AT) on tracks and trails below steep mountain faces.
Please exercise caution if you plan to be in the mountains in coming days. We want everyone to be alert, cautious, choose your routes carefully, ask an expert if you don’t know.

Course Inspection!
It is a wild day today at Trail Creek; not only are the teams streaming in for Friday and Saturday’s Johnny Curtis Memorial Race, but Wilson Winter Sports skiers are also out and about doing their Nordic thing as well. Never fear, there is still plenty of room for you to come on out today for a great Nordic ski!
Today’s grooming was pretty much on every trail. The fields are thoroughly buffed in a hybrid pattern of the next two day’s race courses and in addition, every woods trail has been double Pisten Bully set either today or yesterday. Throw in a couple of warm up lanes and we are at a season high for groomed trails and there mostly in really good shape.
Things will be busy today but you are welcome to ski anywhere as long as you respect the racing teams practice sessions. During the races a shuttle will be running from Stilson so that you can come out and cheer on your team although the courses will be closed for skiing to the public. You are however welcome to ski in the woods although it is uncertain at this time how much additional grooming will be done until Sunday.
Groomer’s choice for today is to come out and witness the spectacle.
Turpin Meadow Ranch

Our Pisten Bully is currently down, but not for long! We are expecting it to be fixed this week. In the meantime, we will groom with the Ginzu. We reset the classic track this morning (1/14) and attempted to groom the skate lane to the best of our ability. We expect the skate lane to be back to normal by Wednesday (1/15). A good amount of snow overnight set us back just a little. We will groom extra with the Ginzu to make sure everything is in great shape for the rest of the week! Fat bike single track is being groomed as normal and is in great condition. Come see us this week! Bring your dog!

Have those sunglasses handy as rumors of sunshine are in the future forecast! Continued winds and persistent snow showers have deposited ample accumulations onto the trails over the past week. Future forecast is calling for calmer weather after Wednesday. Overall, the course continues to groom out excellent. Throughout this weekend expect softer conditions and possible drifting to occur after the morning groom if windy. Enjoy and cross your fingers this wind lets up!

A few updates on the Nordic Track and JHG&T.
Season Passes are available to non members for $100, passes can be picked up in the admin office at JHGTC M-F 9am-5pm or by calling 307.733.7787.
We purchased a new groomer 2 years ago so we do now have a set cross country track with enough room for skate skiers and/or fat bikes next to the set track.
There are no other services available (ie. No lunch) though dinner is offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 5:30pm; Clubhouse amenities are reserved for members only.
We groom the track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

Pinedale

Nordic: Half Moon Tie-In, Kelly Park, Kelly Tie-In, Upper & Lower Surveyor, Powerline, Moose Ridge, Tree Loop, Old Road Trail, Aspen and Looney Lane all groomed this morning. 3″ of new snow at the Nordic Warming Hut, -10F degrees. 3F degrees at the Nordic Equipment Building. The sun is shining. Road plowed. There are several moose in the vicinity – please control your dogs. Please help keep the trails clean – pitch the poo.
Fat Bike 1/10: The High School Ski Race starts at noon in Upper Surveyor Park today. Mass start, should be fun to watch. Freshly groomed this morning for both classic and skating are Half Moon Tie-In, Kelly Park, Kelly Tie-In, Upper & Lower Surveyor, Moose Ridge, Tree Loop, Powerline and Old Road Trail. Aspen and Looney Lane are flat groomed. Cold this morning, -10F degrees, now is 10F degrees. Couple inches of fresh snow this morning. Golf Course and CCC trails should be in pretty good shape. Sure do appreciate folks cleaning up after their pets. Still a number of deer and moose around – please keep pets under control. Saw a herd of elk on the way up this morning, but they are not on the trails yet.
