Grooming Begins on Some Local Trails!

We are excited to report that this recent storm produced enough to get some grooming equipment out out of their sheds and onto the snow. The esteemed groomers at Teton Canyon and at Cache Creek Single Track were making trail on Sunday, thanks TVTAP and Friends of Pathways!

Grooming Nordic trails can be challenging early season, especially when snow and weather conditions continue to be variable. Keep refreshing the jhnordic.com/grooming page to see what is going on in real time. It is very exciting to watch the names of the local Nordic areas turn from black to green as they begin their winter operations.

As we patiently wait to see the grooming map turn green, enough snow has accumulated that in many places you can get out and make your own trail if you can’t wait for the corduroy and tracks. If you’re looking for inspiration of where to go check out these intrepid adventurers below and be sure to browse our trails page to plan your next Nordic trip.

Winter Driving Conditions

While all of this snow will make for great recreation, it is making for challenging driving conditions. Please be cautious heading to and from the trailhead. An old trick is to pretend you have a glass of water on your dash board and drive like you don’t want to spill it! Give yourself extra time to get where you’re going and make sure you’ve got a winter kit in your car in case of an emergency.

Last Update: 12/3
Teton Pines Nordic Center now has its Nordic Ski shop open from 10-2 weekdays until the snow flies, then moving to Winter hours 9-4.  Teton Pines Nordic Center is working hard to prepare to open its groomed trails. Hoping for temps to stay cold and the snow to continue in order to set the track. Possible trail opening in the next few days.

Shooting Star

Last Update: 11/24
I would expect the trails to potentially be closed through mid-December. Friendly reminder that we need approximately 18” to begin grooming with the snowmobile and 24”+ for the snowcat. Once enough snow has fallen, we will then need several days to pack and prep trails prior to opening.

Please help support trail grooming in GTNP by donating to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. It’s easy and encouraged. All you need to do is visit: GTNPF.org/donate/ and leave the comment “Nordic” in the designation section. There is the opportunity to leave a one time gift or reoccurring monthly donations in any amount.
