JH Ski Club Nordic skier -interval training this week at West Yellowstone Rendezvous Nordic trails

Trail Updates

Grooming schedules for the 2018-19 Winter season are now on JHNordic.com/Grooming  so you can check which days your favorite trails will be groomed. Note that Grand Teton National Park Foundation does not begin grooming until mid – December (the grooming days are listed so you can plan ahead). Check in at JHNordic.com/News or on our Facebook page (JHNordicTrails)
Teton Pines Nordic:

All loops are open and should be good Saturday and Sunday…skating will be soft, Classic will be good. By Sunday morning, the track should be in excellent condition for skate and classic. It’s supposed to get really cold Sat night, which will set track up very, very nicely for Sunday.

Report from West Yellowstone Rendezvous Thanksgiving Week Nordic Festival
The JH Ski Club Nordic team was 28 student-athletes strong, plus 4 coaches, training rigorously on snow all week at West Yellowstone’s Rendezvous Trails. JHNordic caught up with the team doing classic ski intervals on Wednesday, and  “goal-setting” coaching session – focused on Process, Performance, & Outcomes” tailored to each student -athlete.  A number of Jackson Hole and Teton Valley families were up getting nordic ski legs and stamina in shape this week, training, taking ski clinics, gathering for Thanksgiving.
Grand Targhee grooming

Grand Targhee Nordic:

With over 10 inches of fresh snow now groomed into the Nordic trails, and more snow overnight Friday, the Nordic trails are in excellent shape for both skate and classic. Fat Bike single track trails are also very good..
Reminder that dogs are not allowed on nordic and fat bike trails. Be sure to purchase a trail pass. And after a huge overnight snowstorm, grooming may be slightly delayed, as the GTR groomers work to get all 3 trails systems open ( alpine, nordic and fat bike).

Teton Canyon:
TVTAP has begun grooming in Teton Canyon, so head over for some nice groomed skate and classic grooming with stunning views of the snow-dusted westside of the Grand, Middle and South Tetons. Groomed on Friday  – conditions reported as:
Good: skate; Good; classic ; Grooming on Saturday and Sunday this weekend – See JHNordic.com/Grooming for weekly schedule or TVTAP.org for more info.
Teton Co/Jackson Parks & Rec Groomed trails:
TC/J has been plowing the pathways for the past week, since snow began to fall in Jackson Hole valley. With this weekend’s new snowfall bringing over 6 inches to the valley floor, look for Nordic trail grooming (or at least rolling and packing) on popular trails such as Cache Creek, Game Creek, and Emily’s Pond levee trail this week.
Trail Creek Nordic:
Steve Swan, the groomer for the JH Ski Club Nordic Program @ Trail Creek is back, and out prepping the Trail Creek Nordic trails, following on from a well -attended Trail Creek trail clean-up day earlier in November. With this weekend’s snowfall in the valley, the trails should be ready for skiing soon -stay tuned… TrailCreekNordicCenter
Shooting Star Nordic:
First report was received from Shooting Star Nordic team, who are ready to begin the season and grooming as soon as snow conditions permit early season grooming. Once enough snow has fallen, several days are required for packing/preparing the trails prior to opening the course for the season.
Turpin Meadow Ranch:
While there is snow at TMR, the Ranch officially opens for winter on Dec 15th, at which time Nordic and fat bike trail will be groomed (subject to snow conditions). As TMR sits on Bridger-Teton USFS public land, you may use the trails but noting is presently groomed, and the Lodge is closed.
Grand Teton National Park – Teton Park Road -Taggart to Signal
Grooming is schedule to begin around Dec 15th, however, in the meantime, plenty of classic skiers are enjoying the skier tracks on the closed road (or on the verge, where snow has been slightly deeper). Remember that bears are not quite fully in hibernation, so take your bear spray in case.
