Early October Snow in JH – Sunday Nordic Surprise

String Lake is well known for its summer activities; kayaking, hiking, SUPs, families gathering on the lake shore to name a few. However, this past weekend’s storm gave the Nordic enthusiasts a peek into the snowy terrain it has to offer.

Great skiing was had along the lake shore & horse trails. 12″-14 inches of snow made for a chilly but perfect day. Trees insulated us from wind and provided a few surprise drifts.  Although we brought out our older “early season rock skis”, there was enough base where nary a rock, log or stump greeted our bases. -George D.

Thanks George for our first Field Report of the season!

TODAY – Trail Creek Clean-up

The Trail Creek Cleanup is upon us! Come this morning at 9 am to get our home trails in shape before more snow flies. Many hands will make light work. Please bring the following; Mask, Tools (shovels, rakes, trucks etc.) Snack and Costume. We will be working tentatively from 9-2, but we may stay a little longer if work still needs to be done!
