With the combination of yesterday’s snow and today’s sunshine it’s a great opportunity to grab a friend and get outside for miles of smiles!
Let’s all celebrate that snow has returned to the valleys and the sun will be shining amidst cooler temperatures by getting outside and playing on the snow! On today’s adventure you’ll want to bundle up and get your heart going in order to endure any wind-chills.
Another thing to celebrate in this interim between the holidays is that more Nordic areas are opening! Check out the most current conditions at JHNordic.com/grooming

An Outing in Grand Teton National Park

On Saturday a bevy of classic cross country skiers headed out into Grand Teton National Park from the Granite Canyon Trailhead and went for the Lawrence S Rockefeller Preserve. They enjoyed a lovely 4 mile, flat ski in about 4” of fresh snow.
Considering that there is now a skier tracked trail and clear skies today would be an ideal day to explore this terrain that offers some beautiful views of the Tetons.
Thanks to Nancy L. for supplying so many wonderful photos and the inspiration of where to tour next!

Updates from the Groomers
Teton Canyon

The skate lane was groomed and a classic track set on Saturday morning and then another 6” fell so they plan to groom again this morning to pack down the latest snow. Expect cold, soft conditions.
Thanks for supporting the TVTAP trail grooming operations through your donations!
Trail Creek Nordic

The third time is a charm as Trail Creek Nordic was poised to open twice before so far this season… but today is the day and they are officially opening for another great winter of Nordic skiing!
Anticipate thin, early season conditions for the time being but come out and enjoy closer to home trails.
You can purchase your passes in advance online here
Turpin Meadow Ranch

The trails at Turpin have been in great condition and continue to improve daily. It cannot be emphasized enough how wonderful a day it will be to ski the TMR track in the sunshine today.
Info & Events

Support Wildlife
This winter has been hard for skiers, but even harder for nature. Please minimize disturbances so wildlife can conserve the energy needed to survive winter. Please see the Interagency winter wildlife closure map. Details also available on the BTNF website.

Who Let The Dogs Out?
Dog owners please know which trails your furry companions are welcome to by checking out the top dog friendly trails. And as a common courtesy please know that most areas where dogs are welcome do require them to be on leash in parking lots and always require you to pick up any deposits they leave on trail.

Sunday, Jan 11
JH Nordic Alliance and Partners invite you to come play on winter trails for the Annual Free Ski, Snowshoe & Fat Bike Event at Turpin Meadow Ranch.
The day is a celebration of community, winter trails recreation and public lands in the beautiful Buffalo Valley and surrounding forests.
We hope you come out, and we hope you carpool with friends and family.
