Winter Weather Affects the Park
Press Release from GTNP

MOOSE, WY— Travelers on U.S. Highway 89/26/191 in Grand Teton National Park should be prepared for winter driving conditions, including slick conditions, sporadic limited visibility, a narrow roadway in some places and high banks of snow along the roadway. Drivers traveling in the park should use caution and drive slowly, and be especially alert to park road crews operating large equipment.

What a Day!

Coach Ben snapped the image to the left this morning showing our nearly two feet of snow since yesterday’s grooming.  While the snowfall has lightened up as of 11:45 AM, it is forecast to continue for some time.  The current temperature is 0ºC/31ºF with calm winds.

Today’s Pisten Bully grooming ventured out to Woolsey Woods and then on out to Moose Loop, making a loop of Outward and Homeward Bound on the way.  Also the East Field Woods trails and on up to Sky View Stadium were set as well. Conditions were very challenging with a very slow progress being made.  Finally the snow warmed enough that it started causing problems with the Pisten Bully at which point it was parked for the day.

If you’ve never been lucky enough to experience an epic mountain snow dump, click here to get a little taste of it.  The Ginzu Groomer was called into action in an attempt to provide some additional grooming; however, it was tending to turn into a giant snowball so that effort was stopped as well.  Overnight temperatures are forecast to fall so hopefully good progress can be made in the morning.

In other news, the Boulder Mountain Tour was held over the weekend in the Sun Valley area with many area skiers putting in appearances.  Full results are available here, pictured on the right is our very own Abigail Murphy who was the top finisher in her age bracket in the Half Boulder, way to go Abi!

Groomer’s choice today is to grab your classic skis and marvel at the magnitude of the snow.

a high near 26, and a southwest wind of 14-16mph. Hopefully we keep the pattern rollin…if they are right, we could see another 3-7″ tonight!
