Trail Creek Grooming Report

Last updated: 12/19

Lively Woods!

A powerful almost Chinook wind is blasting its way down the canyon today, making the forest jump to life.  The conifers are swaying and moaning in the wind and a last few umber aspen leaves are skittering across the snow, but also the animal life has been very active today.  A multitude of squirrels were seen scampering about, a small herd of mule deer does and fawns were spotted near Blowing Colon, and the biggest bull moose (nearly the size of the image below) sighted in some time was wandering in the Woolsey Woods area.  If you are lucky enough to make it out to Trail Creek today, your batteries will surely be recharged!

While all recently groomed trails received Pisten Bully grooming today, about 90% of trails received double Pisten Bully passes with fresh classic tracks.  As of 11:45 AM the temperature is 1ºC/34ºF with a partly cloudy sky and strong winds. Overnight the forecast five inches of snow came as 1-2 inches of really dense sleet/graupel which actually groomed up very nicely as you can see in the banner image.  Why the camera was having psychedelic hallucinations today is hard to say, but it did make for an interesting image.  Anyway, skiing is simply quite nice today in the woods although the fields are still drifting a bit.

Groomer’s choice for today is Homesite/Suicide.

Shooting Star Grooming Report

Last Updated: 12/18

The trails received some extra blade work this morning to buff out a few soft spots that formed from this past weekend’s weather and the course should ski well for the majority of the day.  Outlook is calling for a winter weather system to pass through later this afternoon and linger through Thursday. Once the storm arrives expect possible drifting and snow accumulations to occur. Next update will be Friday. Enjoy!

Turpin Meadow Ranch

Last Updated: 12/19

With 3 inches of fresh snow overnight the trails groomed out really well. With tonight’s cooler temps we expect the trails to be firm and fast for the rest of this week. There are still a few thin spots around but overall we’re really happy with trail conditions.

Alta Track

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Last Updated: 12/18/2018 9:20:28
Skate: Good  |  Classic: Fair
Comments: Groomed with the ginzu on Monday night and reset the classic track. The skate lanes seemed to set up overnight despite the warm temps. The classic track is a little crumbly in places but still skiable.

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 10:36:16
Skate: Poor  |  Classic: Poor
Comments: It’s melting fast. No grooming today, but forecast looks promising for the holidays. There is still enough snow out there to go shuffle around.

Sherman Park

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 8:23:18
Skate: Not Set  |  Classic: N/A
Comments: The 1/2 inch of snow and barely freezing conditions was not enough to help reclaim the track. Track was not holding my weight in spots and with the less than 6 inch base I chose to not ruin what we have. Looks like we will try again on Friday…Bummer!

Teton Canyon

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 6:12:45
Skate: Good |  Classic: Good
Comments: Wednesday: Guessing an inch or two new snow in canyon. Plan to reset both skate and classic tracks this morning. Finish by 930am.

Teton Springs

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 12:41:14
Skate: Good |  Classic: Good
Comments: Groomed with the Ginzu this morning and all came out really nice. Still need a little more snow to get good coverage everywhere. Overall, it should be skiing good for our early season start.

5th Street Singletrack

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/1/2018 10:26:20
Singletrack: Excellent
Comments: Rode-in 5th St. this AM. Fast, fun and tight! Start north of skatepark for 1mi figure-8. Happy Global Fatbike day! Go grab a demo bike from local shops.

Teton Springs Singletrack

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 21:12:02
Singletrack: Fair
Comments: Groomed Saturday 12/15. As of 12/18, the trail had a firm base. However, with the high winds last night, snow has drifted over much of the trail, making it challenging to follow and ride. You won’t ruin the trail by riding it, it will just be difficult to follow.

Southern Valley Single Track

Grooming Schedule: As Needed
Last Updated: 12/18/2018 13:20:41
Singletrack: Excellent
Comments: Conditions are phenomenal right now. Firm and fast! Upper and Lower Lady Slipper from the Grumpy trail to Pole Canyon are riding, as well as the Powerline Road from Pole Canyon to Mike Harris. Nemo trail is groomed and riding great! The Grumpy Loop is not groomed, but packed in and rideable for the advanced riders — lots of moose traffic in that region, so be on alert. The back path behind Teton Springs is groomed.

Rammell Mountain Road to Indian Meadows

Grooming Schedule: As Needed
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 7:51:17
