GROOMING REPORTS

Trail Creek Grooming Report

Last updated: 12/20

Trail Creek Monarchs!

While it is certainly debatable whether the bulls or the cows are the current monarchs of the “Alcesian” world, these guys are sporting some impressive crowns on their heads.  They were seen lounging and foraging around the close field this morning.  It is good to remind Nordic skiers that moose are much bigger than skiers and they can move at Olympic speeds with proper motivation.  Even though they do tend to be relatively calm in winter, a recent report indicated erratic and threatening behavior from one of our resident ruminants; keep your distance on your next Nordic ski!

While you are viewing and avoiding being trampled by moose, you will be able to have a great Nordic ski today at Trail Creek.  Yesterday’s dense snow responded very favorable to today’s Pisten Bully best line skate set.  All trails received such grooming and in addition the close field received a total Pisten Bully rework with fresh double classic tracks.  Yesterday’s classic tracks in the woods are all in all quite pristine yet today and will ski nicely.  11:30 conditions are partly cloudy, calm, a temperature of -5ºC/23ºF, and a forecast of 3 inches of fresh snow in the next 24 hours.  It is simply a great day to ski at Trail Creek!

Groomer’s choice for today is Beaver Ponds.

Shooting Star Grooming Report

Last Updated: 12/18

The trails received some extra blade work this morning to buff out a few soft spots that formed from this past weekend’s weather and the course should ski well for the majority of the day.  Outlook is calling for a winter weather system to pass through later this afternoon and linger through Thursday. Once the storm arrives expect possible drifting and snow accumulations to occur. Next update will be Friday. Enjoy!

Alta Track

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Last Updated: 12/20/2018 1:41:35
Skate: Good  |  Classic: Good
Comments: Groomed all trails with ginzu groomer and reset all classic track late Wednesday night. Should set up nicely overnight. Some of classic track is still a bit crumbly.

Driggs

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 10:36:16
Skate: Poor  |  Classic: Poor
Comments: It’s melting fast. No grooming today, but forecast looks promising for the holidays. There is still enough snow out there to go shuffle around.

Sherman Park

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 8:23:18
Skate: Not Set  |  Classic: N/A
Comments: The 1/2 inch of snow and barely freezing conditions was not enough to help reclaim the track. Track was not holding my weight in spots and with the less than 6 inch base I chose to not ruin what we have. Looks like we will try again on Friday…Bummer!

Teton Canyon

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
Last Updated: 12/20/2018 7:10:22
Skate: Excellent|  Classic: Good
Comments: Thursday: On such a nice day for Nordic skiing, plan to reset skate track. Both classic tracks turned out well yesterday. Finish by 9am.

Teton Springs

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Last Updated: 12/20/2018 9:21:23
Skate: Good |  Classic: Fair
Comments: Heading out to groom should be done by 10:30am.

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/1/2018 10:26:20

Comments: Rode-in 5th St. this AM. Fast, fun and tight! Start north of skatepark for 1mi figure-8. Happy Global Fatbike day! Go grab a demo bike from local shops.

Teton Springs Singletrack

Grooming Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Last Updated: 12/19/2018 21:12:02
Singletrack: Fair
Comments: Groomed Saturday 12/15. As of 12/18, the trail had a firm base. However, with the high winds last night, snow has drifted over much of the trail, making it challenging to follow and ride. You won’t ruin the trail by riding it, it will just be difficult to follow.

Southern Valley Single Track

Grooming Schedule: As Needed
Last Updated: 12/18/2018 13:20:41
Singletrack: Excellent
Comments: Conditions are phenomenal right now. Firm and fast! Upper and Lower Lady Slipper from the Grumpy trail to Pole Canyon are riding, as well as the Powerline Road from Pole Canyon to Mike Harris. Nemo trail is groomed and riding great! The Grumpy Loop is not groomed, but packed in and rideable for the advanced riders — lots of moose traffic in that region, so be on alert. The back path behind Teton Springs is groomed.

Rammell Mountain Road to Indian Meadows
