Description:
The trails start just off the library parking lot, on the east edge of the ice rink. This tail system is a combination of loops with some small hills and excellent views of the Tetons and rolling farm fields. The neighbors of Alta have graciously agreed to let TVTAP groom and the public access the property that make up these loops. Please be excellent visitors to the neighborhood.
The trail system offers multiple loops, giving you the flexibility to ski a little bit or quite a bit. When you combine all the loops, you'll cover approximately 10 kilometers. Throughout your ski, you'll be treated to magnificent views of the Grand Teton and the Grand Targhee Ski Area.
Parking: The trailhead parking is situated in the parking lot on the west side of the Episcopal Church in Alta. Please be considerate and avoid parking in the small Alta Library lot, which is reserved for library customers.
Skiing Experience: The Alta Nordic Track provides an exceptional skiing experience, suitable for both classic and skate skiing. The trail unfolds on open, gently rolling terrain, offering a delightful winter adventure.
Winter Grooming: Teton Valley Trails and Pathways, a local non-profit organization known as TVTAP, grooms these trails. Please consider purchasing a season trail pass, or donating periodically if you are not a frequent skier here by connecting directly to TVTAP. The Alta Nordic Track schedule is for grooming Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. See real-time grooming and updates on the map above or find grooming and trail conditions on our Grooming page/.
Fat Bikers, Walkers, or Snowshoers: No fat bikes, walkers or snowshoes. If this is your mode of play, head a couple of miles up the road to Teton Canyon where all users are welcome. See the signs at the trailhead about the best place on the track for your mode of travel.
A Note to Dog Owners: Dogs are welcome, and owners must ensure their dogs remain under control with voice command or be leashed. All dog poop must be picked up, bagged and packed out.
