Daily Trail Report for 2.26.26.
After a wild Wednesday with variable conditions, Thursday is looking promising.
GIANT thank you to all of the groomers managing what Steve S at Trail Creek noted as tempestuous weather.

The track at Grand Targhee continues to be in excellent shape! It is groomed in the early morning (and not re-groomed on storm days).

Community Trip Report: Shadow Mountain

Shadow Mountain always makes for a special destination. Last week the snow was in the best condition we have ever experienced and Thursday it will all be fresh again after the storm!
Three of us tried a variety of skin versus no skin skiing and we all had a wonderful time. One made perfect telemark turns on the slopes as the others glided in firm powder – and we met amongst the aspen groves.
The actual summit is surrounded by trees, looks east, and was windy – so we skied west and enjoyed lunch in the sun as we gazed in wonder at the cloudless sky and spectacular mountain range in our won backyard! Around 2 ½ hours up, ½ hour lunch, and 1 hour down.
Run don’t walk to this special spot!
Tech Tip Thursday
Maximize your glide – liquid, paste and spray waxes to the rescue!
Certain conditions, like cold snowpack + warm new snow, or warm snowpack + cold air, can produce a miserably sticky situation on the bottoms of scaled skis.
Ian Harvey of Toko USA recommends cleaning the bases with warm water, soap and a stiff bristled brush. Then apply any of a number for easy-application liquid, paste or spray waxes.

Shadow Mountain uptrack with smooth gliding skis.
